Roll up Roll up, who's in CV East?

First year in the camper vans for me, following a 12-stretch in the usual field/tent combo. Looking forward to it - our reasoning was that its not like we stay in shitholes on holiday, so we should at least have a toilet and shower at hand ;) it's helped to get friends newly with children back too...

Couldn't find any of the companies who deliver the campers/motorhomes to site who still actually had any vacancies, so will be driving ours!

And will be in the family/quiet/hire field ... now I feel old

Quiet / pre delivered could be further away than normal. I’ve hired predelivered ones a few times and been right at the back and in the middle never really close to the gate.

Really? Well, we are getting there Tuesday about 4pm. I presume there will still be room a reasonable distance

Thank you Pear_Cider! I can’t believe I forgot.

I’ve never been able to take my VW as her engine cracked on the way there in 2016 (20 minutes from site) had to get towed to Andover then back to Maidenhead then drive all the way back in my car! Last year we had to get hospitality to get in so couldn’t take her then either! We’re doomed :D finally got her running well and blooming forgot to get a ticket haha. Thanks for your reply :)

No probs...hopefully this will be the year you finally make it!! I'm sure you'll be ok in the resale...a lot of duplicates going back in :)

See you there :D

Yes, our pre-delivered vans have usually been pretty much as far as possible, even though they're obviously delivered first.  I took it as some sort of penance to balance my crass capitalism and therefore thought it was fair enough :)

Last year we were a couple of fields nearer in, which was most welcome so hopefully that will happen again.

The arrival time and distance from Gate C don’t always correlate...

take a look at the map on the Glastonbury website info page... your arrive via Blue Route and will turn into either E25 (for quiet) or E14 for general...

if you are the first Van in and are going to General you will be directed thru E14/15/16 and into 18 and will be parked in rows starting nearest the Blue Route (across from E19)... they will then fill 17/16/15 and 14...

so, in 2017 we arrived Tuesday 14:00 and were parked half way along E17... people arriving on Wednesday were likely parked in E14... to get to Gate C they would cross the road into E25 and thru 23 to get to the gate... *** later to arrive but closer to the gate ***

pitches are not marked out and so stewards park you as best as possible...

come Thursday evening and you turn up in your little VW T2... the fields are ‘generally’ full but you may well be able to park that little rasper on a small patch of grass in E20 because they need to fit you in as you’ve paid £120... *** very late to arrive but very close to the gate ***

None of this is exact science and has heavy dependence on the arrival of punters and the capability and attention of some 16 year old stewards... (bit harsh)... point is, there may WELL be space closer to the gate when you arrive but they stack you in order to easily fill the fields..

Having travelled for probably 6 hours, I invariably eff & Jeff to myself when we are getting parked up, that we are too far away... (except for the year that I got front row of E23) but in reality nowhere is that bad... just take an extra can of breakfast beer along for the walk to the gate ?

What's the deal on fire pits/BBQ's in the camper fields?

We have a small fire pit we use for BBQ's, is that allowed? It says no open fires but small BBQ's allowed on Glasto terms.

As well as this query (quoting myself :) ) it says you are allowed an awning - what about a gazebo if your camper does not have an awning?

Hi all how would I go about changing into the quiet cv east from the general ? In my panic after getting through I chose the wrong one, would I have to go through the April resales again and try my luck ?

CV East Quiet has a bigger demand so was the first to sell out. Unless you have really good reason to want to change to quiet I would hang on to what I had. We wanted quiet as well but just happy we have one at all. By all accounts its pretty quiet anyway but don't quote me on that as it's my first time in the CV fields.

It’s for mobility issues really and I assumed the quiet camp was furthest from the festival, my own fault for not researching a bit more ? it’s our first time in the cv fields also because of recent health decline, ill see if anything comes up in the resales.

I've done 5 or 6 in CV East and stayed in 3 or 4 different fields and they're always quiet no matter where you stay really.

Thats until 2019 when you roll in though! There goes the neighbourhood etc.

Lol! Sorry for lowering the tone. I'll try and keep it down. Can I interest you in a Dark and Stormy? :D

If you have mobility issues it would probably be better to get in touch with Glasto HQ for the accessible area in East. https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/deaf-and-disabled-info/
