How much? I'm desperate to get on the trailer tent/camper/caravan band wagon but always panic as I wouldn't have a clue how to do one up!

Mine is a 1980s conway tardis, so has a hard top and winds up to height, then pull out the beds. The outside is sound, just needs a bit of making over inside. Has cabinets and wardrobe so just going to get some sticky vinyl coverings, got a sewing machine so might take a crack at the diner cushions. Cost me £500 on eBay and it's 6 berth. Caravan quotes were £1000+ 4 berth. No shower but will get cheap toilet tent and solar shower.

No I just wanted to be as close as possible. Anyway, at least I got a ticket. That's the main thing.

Quiet / pre delivered could be further away than normal. I’ve hired predelivered ones a few times and been right at the back and in the middle never really close to the gate.

Interesting and makes sense 'quiet' being further from the gate.

Brilliant @slash's hat, that's what I was looking for initially - a hard top. I've never towed before either. I might puruse eBay and then try a small festival next summer ahead of 2020.

Thanks!

Yeah, towing it is my worry, but time to practice between now and then. If really not comfortable with it then will have to get hubby to drop off in advance and pick up on the Tues.

I have a early 1980s 'elaime' folding caravan, it's easy to tow as its lower then the car, so you can still see behind you :)

Got this about ten years ago, as my actual VW T2 was 'briefly' off the road for some welding (it's still off the road :D ) and it's pretty good.

Someone before me had stripped the interior out, so I needed to make one, and every panel has needed repair over the years as the wooden frame is just dust now, but I'll be giving it a clean and hopefully ready for next year, all being well :)

2016 was -hard work-. I live what is normally a 40 min drive away, took TEN hours to get from my house to parked up in E17.

Got towed in as well as out, much respect to the tractor guys that year.

I didn't take pics from other angles, but there was standing water around my car. not fun trying to leave on the monday :)

As we were getting out of the field I had the metal track flip up and hit the motor mover on my caravan and knock it back about 2-3 inches..this resulted in it digging into both caravan tyres and puncturing them. The police escorted me to an old closed down pub on the A361/Wroxhall Road junction... We were there for about 5 hours whilst a diamond AA bloke put us together again.. (11hrs there - 10hrs home)

a lot of horror stories that year.

oof! not good.

I was worried I would run out of fuel. On the way there I had about half a tank, enough to do the trip several times over, but all the stop start traffic for ten hours dropped me to less than ten miles left when I finally parked, thankfiully, I made it to the petrol station at the crossroads on the way home, but it was bum clenchingly close.

and when it's up:

the lid is on struts, so can be lifted by one person, that pulls the end panels up, then the side panels are lifted by hand and it all clips in place. Takes literally minutes to put up or down.

Would have liked one like that but couldn't find any close enough.

This is mine, trailer tent/caravan combo. Just wind up and slide beds out, attach support legs to bed and front door. Looked easy enough when the people we bought off demonstrated anyway.

To be fair, we got on site and off site under our own steam.... (without the benefit of 4 wheel drive)..

there was a decent amount of community spirit on Monday morning with everyone helping push people onto the metal tracks.. and the tractors were there in big numbers to get others shifted..

the 2016 mud was caused by 2 weeks of torrential rain before the festival absolutely saturating the ground.. it didn’t actually rain so much during the daytime but did enough during the night to stop it from drying...

Yes Jen, there'll be a CV ticket resale after the main resale in April :)

Thank you Pear_Cider! I can’t believe I forgot.

I’ve never been able to take my VW as her engine cracked on the way there in 2016 (20 minutes from site) had to get towed to Andover then back to Maidenhead then drive all the way back in my car! Last year we had to get hospitality to get in so couldn’t take her then either! We’re doomed :D finally got her running well and blooming forgot to get a ticket haha. Thanks for your reply :)
