The Weather Thread 2019

Here's Sunday, and the whole of the festival collated.

In short, IT'S A BLOODY GREAT UPDATE!

Sunday: Pressure remains good, keeping the low out to the south west. Very small amount of rain, though there is a heavy band about to move in overnight. Pleasant at 19-20

Monday: Cooler at 14-15 as the rain moves through overnight and through the day, but higher pressure keeps the low pressure area at bay. Could be a fair amount of rain around.

Tuesday: Higher pressure really builds in and takes command, temperatures up to 19 with zero rain. Brilliant for any drying required even though there is the possibility of a small amount of rain.

Wednesday: High pressure continues to be in total command. Rain showing for the area from 6am all morning so the possibility of being wet in the queue and setting up. But temperatures will be up to 21 by midday before rising to a high of 24! More rain showing for the evening, but not much.

Thursday: Pressure starts to slide off slightly, with the low out to the south west fighting back. Little bit of rain overnight, but then likely dry all day with highs of 22. Lovely conditions.

Friday: Pressure dropping off again as the high sinks back to the continent. Still lovely at 23-24 with a small amount of rain around to refresh us all in the daytime.

Saturday: Again a little bit of rain around to cool us off, pressure dropping off a little more. Lovely highs of 19-21.

Sunday: Pressure stable, tempts again comfortable at 18-19. Small amount of rain around.

Funnily enough @The Nal's reminders of 2016 have ultimately just cheered me up. It's looking far from perfect but remember that this was the state of parts of the site on the Friday before opening in 2016:

And see also this one:

Whatever happens now it's going to be nothing like that.

The Nal was a Noah-style prophet in 2016, here was his post from the 7th June that year:

YR showing rain almost every day up until next Thursday. Which is far out as they predict. Some serious downpours. Place will be a mudbath before anyone arrives. This much we know for certain now.

This is the worst forecast we've ever seen this close to the festival.

Its time to accept the fact that we're fucked.

It's come to something when rain every day of the festival, and for the preceding three days, is seen as "bloody great."

That is not bloody great.

A little bit of rain can easily be 'a bit more than expected' and then we have mud.

That update is bloody keeping everything in play. It is not bloody great.

ha, just looked back through the 2016 thread and it's exactly the same- same jokes, same meme's and pictures, same complaints about The Nal, I even wrote some of the same posts I posted today. Is every year's weather thread essentially exactly the same, with only the final few days before the festival where it differs??

It's as if we should all learn our lesson.

See you back here next year

haha, it happens on here every year, the same threads repeat themselves year in, year out. 'What are your top 5 acts you've seen' , 'Glastonbury tips', 'Cider', the twix story, it's the same shit every year. I still love it though!

That wasn’t a great run at all. The temperatures are really not that important compared to rainfall. Now there’s not a huge amount currently forecast but that run shows a very changeable festival with the potential for relatively consistent rainfall Wednesday and Sunday, with lighter rain possible on other days.

We won’t know until next week based on current models. Too much divergence.

Thanks for this, and all the sterling work you do, but the large bold font is a bit misleading wouldn’t you say? That’s a million miles from what I would consider a bloody great update. More like a bit of a shit update. Rain every day of the festival.
