  1. 1. If The Cure were to headline would you be there? I'm intrigued due to the varied opinions of them on here.

    • Yes - Definitely, regardless of who else is on the other stages.
      199
    • More than likely - Depending on strength of the clashes on other stages.
      260
    • Unlikely - Know a couple of songs but there would probably be something else on you'd watch instead.
      192
    • No - Never been a fan so will definitely be elsewhere.

Really!!  Flaming Lips at the Park.  My most joyful gig ever

I've seen Dr Jacoby from Twin Peaks and the lads bring half a dodgy carnival onstage and whack on about how much they love the crowd before and found it massively tragic.

Dizzee Rascal was good fun too.

I ended up fucking off to Dizzee after the world's most precocious D&D group had done Let Down and ye it was good fun, but it was like midday Other stage good fun, not WH headliner stuff.

These days any Pyramid headliner will have a mass exodus. That's the nature of the festival init? Frankly I think Radiohead nailed it by playing to their actual fans, not trying to catch the attention of ADHD tick boxers. I vote headliners play to their fans and give them the best show poss. Being in the pit for Radiohead was one of the most speical moments I've experienced at a gig, and The Cure will be the same.

Just get in the pit and have a cracking time. So what if people at the back of the field leave?

Any reports of them having the screens off or just showing abstract visuals?

Footage from their festival shows so far display the screens most definitely on. Not sure, why people think they would turn them off. The Cure ain't radiohead, but they aren't going to play a 100% hit fest either.

Coyne may go "Come On Motherfuckers!" too many times, but he brings out the big guns. Whereas it looks like Boabie is going to keep The Lovecats in his back pocket

The Cure's back catalogue can't be compared to The Flaming Lips', and omitting Lovecats doesn't qualify as not bringing the big guns.

They're playing to largely the same sort of audience who got peeved at the Boss for not playing Born In The USA.

Well not if those guys leave, and also I'm not bothered whether that sort of rubbernecker has a good time or not.

Southside stream if anyone's interested. I'm only going to watch the first few tunes to see if there's much variation. They have a much shorter set time for this one than usual. https://www.southside.de/en/

Still played two hours twenty minutes. Mixed up the order of the songs a bit and dropped One Hundred Years in favour of Let's Go To Bed added to the encore. I wonder if the billed two hour Glastonbury set will actually end up being longer

Aye, last night seemed to be billed as 1hr40 but came out longer. I don't think there's that flexibility at Glasto.

Foo Fighters went on thirty minutes longer than their allotted time in 2017 the world didn't cave in. Bring back the post-midnight headliner finishes I wasn't around early enough to see!!

Think I'll be watching this on the TV with a bottle of wine, hugging a cushion.

Enjoy. I was quite fond of the crowd with this one. Lots of bopping. :)

I meant the Glastonbury set next week! I saw them at Leeds Fest in 2012, and that festival was a special time for me. I don't know what I'd have watched on Sunday if I'd got a ticket, but as a spectacle to be enjoyed from the comfort of my home, The Cure wins out handily. Just picturing that wide camera shot from the back of the crowd as the lights twirl around. Hope it's beautiful in that Pyramid field for everyone! xxx

I'm a bit disappointed that Plainsong has been dropped as an opener after their Disintegration shows...but on the flipside there's still 2h+ of killer material coming up so I reckon I'll cope ?

SDS is a much better opener, imo. Especially for fests.
