  1. 1. If The Cure were to headline would you be there? I'm intrigued due to the varied opinions of them on here.

    • Yes - Definitely, regardless of who else is on the other stages.
      199
    • More than likely - Depending on strength of the clashes on other stages.
      260
    • Unlikely - Know a couple of songs but there would probably be something else on you'd watch instead.
      192
    • No - Never been a fan so will definitely be elsewhere.

Might get myself a ticket for Janelle at the MIF so I'm free to check out mopey Bob and the boys and stay put if I feel the need to.

Thing is, it's two acts that I'll go and see at their own shows, I just need to decide which of the two provide the appropriate gravitas to the last night of the big G. I was solidly in the Monae camp until now, but I'm starting to waiver.

I've got my tickets for Janelle at MIF but I think it could be special watching her at Glastonbury so I may end up seeing her twice in a week.

Feels like one you dont need to be right down the front in the pit for.  Hang at the back and have a bit of a carry on, share some rum, easy access to facilities.

I've seen many a headliner from this position. Good thinking.

You're right about the Cure though, there won't be a moshpit, they ain't particularly pretty to look at and they don't really perform in any way. But, I saw them at Wembley Arena a couple of years back, about 12 deep from the stage, and the one thing you really get at close distance (if you admire this kind of thing) is a complete masterclass of their musicianship. A lot of Cure songs are musically complex and they all absolutely nail every song live.

Loved the cure since 1986. Heard in between days and close to me and was hooked. Saw them at the crystal palace bowl in 1992 with James all about eve and lush. Then again at bestival in 2013(?)

Brilliant at bestival. Over 2 hour set. Disintegration. Faith. Pornography prolly my fave cure albums. Dark but brilliantly composed and gives an insight into Smith's mind at the time. I also like his pop songs and 4:13 dream blood flowers and wild mood swings.

Mint Car is a fab song. Makes me feel proper jolly on a summer's day boozing.

My life time dream to see them at the farm. Luckily enough I'll be there thanks to my cousin last sunday

Any punts on who will be the sub?  God-forbid its Miley but I'm guessing it will be Vampire Weekend. Making sunday look something like Miley - Kylie - VW - The Cure...?

We’re still unsure if it’s gonna go the way you’ve mentioned or if we’ve still got a Pyramid sub missing. Legend slot has traditionally been fourth down but I don’t see why that couldn’t change, but then Vampire Weekend would make a pretty weak sub, especially with their new album not exactly lighting the world on fire.

That would make Sunday look like Someone else - Kylie - someone else - someone else

Because of the tradition that you mentioned. I don't really see why it would change now or ever.

The traditional slot has been shifted quite a bit over the years anyway due to earlier curfews and longer changeovers so I don't see it as a sacrosanct thing that must be exactly slotted in a particular way.

15 years ago, the legends slot (James Brown) was 4th from top and ran from 5:30pm to 6:45pm. At the most recent festival, the act 3rd from top (Chic) also finished at 6:45pm.

Ultimately if The Cure get more than 90 minutes (no idea if they will or not), then something would have to shift this year - either the changeover times get squeezed, the legends slot gets moved up to 3rd from top, or it gets pushed earlier than ever before and starts at 3:something.

The slot hasn't changed though, has it? As you say, James Brown played fourth down, as I think they all have (Chic weren't the legend slot). The time might have changed but now it has been honed as a massive feature of the festival and the curfews are set in place, I don't see any justification switching about at all.

Kylie was announced as playing "the legendary Sunday afternoon slot" so I'm sure it will actually take place in the aftenoon. The Who were given two hours in 2015 and Lionel still played fourth down. Plus, Kenny Rogers started his set before 4pm. Ultimately, the festival will decide how long The Cure get and they can still get two hours and not derail the festival's traditional schedule.
