Can I just add my usual appreciation for TeamCampesinos who is always sooo quick off the mark with the clashfinder. Brilliant work, thanks.

While the line up is good, being in a confined space at sea for many days with nothing but B&S fans is my idea of hell

Think it's fair to say, us EOTR veterans REALLY want that secret set to be Brakes.

rararachel's comparison was between Van Etten and YLT (and wasn't even that straghtforward), not Courtney. YLT are not going to be the new headliner.

Sorry misread - still a bigger name than VE

Saw Black Country New Road, Squid and Pigs x7 yesterday...all fantastic, especially Squid who put on a 10/10 show, really looking forward to them at EOTR now.

Saw Orville Peck as well...seemed like a very EOTR act so hoping he gets booked for next year.

I also saw Squid on Saturday and they were so tuneless, unmelodic and unremarkable I left after 10 minutes. Quite enjoyed BCNR on the other hand. Was it a slow start or just a musical difference of opinion?

I also saw Squid on Saturday and thought they were alright, seen them a few times before though. I do think the hype for them is a bit unwarranted at this point but they seem like they could become a good band. BCNR were as scintillating as ever. Not the best I've seen them but they set the bar stupidly high from last time.

Yeah agree and not disputing their potential, they could do with some good new tunes as they mature.

Squid, I hate to say, aren't very good - no tunes and a very generic sorta-krauty post-punk thing that's been done 1000 times

I’d kind of disagree, I think Houseplants and The Dial are pretty good tunes, their other stuff I’m still a little undecided on but would rather have the Krauty post-post they’re doing than some of the other stuff in that scene going around (controversial but would put Fontaines in that category). I also saw them on Saturday and was impressed and think they’ll be great at EOTR.

Come on now, The Dial and Houseplants are HUGE tunes! They do wear their influences on their sleeve to a certain extent, but IMO it's a little unfair to cast them off as 'just another post-punk band.' What they're doing is much more interesting than the likes of Idles, Shame, Viagra Boys etc.

BCNR I like a lot musically, but the self-indulgent lyrics make me cringe. The singer also sounds like he is doing a posh public schoolboy imitation of Eugene Robinson on several occasions.

A difference of opinion because I think BCNR are incredibly overrated

That's pretty much it, yeah - they're never "officially" announced ahead of time unless bands do so during their main sets, though they were all listed that one year the production schedules got leaked before the festival.

Sometimes theacts themselves will announce at the end of a set, or ask the band when they are flogging their tat at the end of a set, or Line of Best Fit send notifications or, best of all, ask my mate Paul, who has Big Jeff levels of knowledge

It's not really a like-for-like swap, expenditure wise surely? Hopefully Beirut's band fees will be spent elsewhere at the festival.

At least I hope this means that Kikagaku Moyo and Courtney won't clash.

I don't really want to see Low or Kate, both seem like a bit of a yawnfest to me...

So does this create a Low/Courtney clash? (or fix one?)

Creates... NIGHTMARE.

Excited about Kate Tempest, great addition in my books.
