? maybe water was expensive, but i don't know which festival gives you 0,5L beer for less than 5 EUR....and some food was very cheap

this year i found music less attractive (my opinion)....never saw a concert at nos stage...

probably next year i won't go for early birds, but wait for the first names...

my highlights: Modeselektor, David August, Jarvis Cocker,  Fucked Up, Viagra Boys, Tommy Cash, Courtesy, Helena Hauff, Nina Kraviz

We were drinking cider at €6 a ‘pint’ (just under a pint) which would have been half ice if we didn’t insist on them not putting ice in.

At one point (during Kate Tempest) we approached the nearest bar and they had run out of cider, so I rashly got a double vodka and a double rum - €24!

Yes - I think it was expensive!

How much was a glass of wine? How much was  a pint of beer?

You need to be even handed if you are going to generalise about the cost of drinks.

Really? I need to research the cost of drinks I didn’t drink?

I went to a festival and the drinks I drank were a bit more that I would have expected to pay.

Its a festival forum not a research project!

We were drinking rum and vodka mixers a lot of the weekend and the standard measure seemed to be a double for €6. So I think they might have been quadruple measures?

Agree it wasn’t the cheapest for drinks, but I think it was the same prices as Barcelona Primavera?

A double at Primavera Barcelona was more than €6.

Who said anything about researching the cost of drinks?

Beer and wine are cheaper than most festivals.

Cider and spirits more expensive from what you are saying.

You can’t say that drinks are expensive without looking at the prices in the round.

Blimey! Do you work for them?

That WAS our round. Myself and my husband. That was what we drank. I didn’t look at the prices of other drinks because I had no reason to. It was a passing comment on MY experience of the festival.

Last festival pints I bought were £4.50 & (looking it up now) I got a bad exchange rate at the airport because I didn’t have time to get cash before that due to moving house.

With regard to them maybe being quadruple shorts - that is a possibility because they tasted strong as a long drink, but it would have been nice to have been advised that they were already doubles if this were the case!

It wasn’t about *your experience* of the festival.

If you say a festival has expensive drinks you are making a generalisation about *the festival itself*.

Nos Primavara Sound in Porto does not on average have more expensive drinks than other festivals. It’s a fact, not a matter of opinion.

It being the most I have ever paid for drinks at a festival is also a fact, not just my opinion.

i will be going to 2 other festivals this summer and air will be amazed if I pay this much again for either cider or shorts. i’ll Keep you posted.

OK, it's getting boring now. The key phrase here is 'on average' inexpensive drinks. Conversely you can't go into Harrods, buy a plastic bag for 10p and conclude that Harrods sells cheap things.

I think your point is that Nos Primavera Sound has expensive cider. Could be fair enough, wouldn't have challenged that.

But Primavera Porto does not have expensive drinks relative to other major festivals. Source: I've been there many times and to a tonne of other festivals and have been able to compare prices.

Purely out of interest what festivals have you been to with £4.50 pints? I've been to a few festivals in the last couple of weeks and been paying around £6 :( saw tame impala at the o2 on Saturday- £7!!

come on, you serious?! I've been to MANY festivals around Europe and you still say this was expensive....probably at Sziget 10 years ago I paid 4 EUR for a beer, but I'm not sure....at nos I paid 6EUR for vodka/gin & lemon with measuring cup (at Bits stage they made terrible cocktails, same price without measuring cups, and after two you were fucked up)...the most I paid was 8 EUR at the beefeater stand next to pull&bear stage for the most expensive gin, but it was worth it...I mean, it looks regular to me living in Milan (and yes, England is expensive for us, Italians)

ok, this is my last message about drinking cost

you’re right it is boring but here is last year’s Sziget price list with spirits at half the price I paid on Sunday, and cider at less than 3 euros.

Well done on the cheap wine, but I imagine that was cheaper last year at Sziget too - not ‘10 years ago’.

Parklife is in London where you’d probably pay nearly that much in a pub let alone a festival!

its my last word on it too - I’d never have expected such a backlash for a passing comment that drinks had been expensive at a festival. I am sure that the history of e-feats has seen such comments a few times before. Drinks are expensive at all festivals & that was the most I’d paid - is this actually slander or something? I have no idea what the big deal is.

Well anyway, let’s not focus on the price of the drinks. It was a great weekend! Favourite sets:

Jarvis Cocker - he’s just iconic at this point isn’t he? Really loved the new songs too, especially ‘House Music’

Solange - a proper show, always feels special to see her. Shame about the downpour though.

Fucked Up - amazing! Never seen them before and thought they were fantastic. What was up with all the children onstage at the start?

Courtney Barnett - just love her. Shame she isn’t touring with the keyboardist anymore but she’s got so many great sing-a-long songs.

Interpol - seemed that they played mostly from TOTBL and Antics which worked for me, sweet nostalgia!

Sophie - not much happening onstage but I love her music and made some new friends dancing to it.

Big Thief - probably my favourite of the weekend. Love their music so much and they managed to own the bigger stage. Closing with Masterpiece with all the crew onstage ❤️

Rosalia - brilliant and unique pop performance. Loved that she saved the newer bangers for the end.

Mykki Blanco - my god, I did not see this absolute party happening. Spent most of the set in the crowd whilst all the dancers vogued onstage, at one point they ran through the audience and headed for the trees whilst security followed.

Shoutout to J Balvin for just being ridiculous, not my thing really but it was certainly a spectacle.

Missed Viagra Boys because they were on far too early.
