What's the capacity at IOW these days? The line up would be seen as good for people who like that sort of thing but looks a step down from previous years. I'd say it looks like a line up for maybe a 30k capacity event?

I'm surprised that people are surprised by the IOW line up. Its been for people that only really listen to chart music for years. They likely either had to go for smaller headline acts or fold altogether.

IOW has always been one for a slightly older demographic to me, to 30+ crowd, safer rock bookings to satisfy the real music = guitar bloke crowd with a few flavour of the month radio friendly acts scattered about

I think you lot are being very sniffy about IOW in all honesty.

Noel Gallagher is an undeniable legend who is headlining festivals all over the UK, George Ezra is headlining arenas and having huge hits regularly and they've taken a punt on him and bumped him up and Biffy Clyro have a huge back catalogue, have headlined Download and Scottish festivals and are easily capable of filling that slot.

Considering the financial issues the festival has and they are downsizing I think it's objectively a solid booking. Might not be to my taste and I certainly aren't going but objectively I don't think it's a bad line up.

It was recently purchased by the world's biggest promoter, but not because of financial issues.

For years, IOW appear to have spunked all the money on big headliners with very little to offer in the undercard.   It looks like a bit more thought has gone into the overall days this year
