I would go with whichever boat is easier for you on your side of the water. I am of course taking about foot passengers. Surely no one is bad enough to drive. Red Jet is 23 mins Southampton to West Cowes straight on number 1 bus to Newport. No problem.

The All Round Ball :|
Peeps I wouldn't mind seeing that are possible but also some that are unlikely but still possible: Royal Blood Mumford & Shits George Ezra Arctics F and the machine Elton John Muse Catfish and the Bottlegirls Eagles Mon the Biff Sundara Karma (Even though they are at R&L) Two Door Cinema Club (Maybe) Just a few names to list that I think could pop up. Some more likely than others but all I wouldn't mind seeing. Mostly want to see Biffy there as I love Biffy but I can only hope.

How far is Newport away? Is it worth jumping in a taxi?

Bus is a lot cheaper and there will be plenty of them about.
the wonderwhy
I would recommend avoiding Southampton if I were you. Weird bunch, that lot.
kevybhoy
forget about taxis as they are few and far between and will prob cost a small fortune, just get the ferry and follow the crowd and youll be fine ?
kevybhoy
as for artists im feeling confident about the eagles as rumours as similar to depeche mode last year which proved correct, them apart i think dmas and jamie t will be there
the wonderwhy
Also if you're going by train via Portsmouth (the far superior city), buy a through ticket to Ryde- you get the ferry/hovercarft included and it saves you a fair amount. kevybhoy
last year we went southampton on way over and portsmouth on way back, both v v easy, dont get too concerned about ferry times as with foot passengers it pretty much goes out the window

No. Not sure where are coming from but the best way I find to get to “ The Diamond Island “ using public transport is buying a train ticket from home ( in my case Weymouth) to West Cowes and then use the bus service. The bus stop for Newport is at the Redjet ferry terminal so you step off one onto the other. Do you live at the Seaside ?
SeasideMac
Live in Morecambe so yes by the sea. I'm a Blackpool fan hense the Seaside username. (Don't get me started on the Oystons..!!) Will be on the train down from Lancaster to Southampton. Should arrive around 1pm so I'm guessing the next ferry is around 2pm. Will just follow the crowds. Booked in Pink Moon so I'm guessing we don't need to get there too early to get a decent tent pitch.

There’s always people to jump in with and they take you further in than the buses

Plus the only prior indication we had about Bob Dylan playing was someone who said the Glasto headliners we're The Cure, Macca and Taylor Swift, so he obviously knew nothing.
