All Points East Festival 2019

So glad the Strokes isn't that 1h15 rubbish gov ball is getting, on Clashfinder it says 21:25 start but on the app it says 21:30, any idea which is right? 15 minute gap between interpol and strokes would be nice to get a better position and stop the stampede but would like 5 mins of extra strokes too!

Looking like this for me: Parquet Courts > Psychadelic Porn Crumpets > Johnny Marr second half > Raconteurs leave after steady as she goes probably > Interpol > Strokes

Any recommendations for before Parquet Courts? A good reason to get their early thats similar to the bands I listed?

First setlist for Strokes coming out Monday too - and if i didn't say already Johnny Marr has played This Charming Man twice in May, also played once last year but these 3 times are the first he's ever played it as a solo act according to setlist.fm at least.

Would definitely give Pregoblin and Fat White Family a go

Going to Ape for the first time on the BMTH day. What's the distance between East and North stage like? RTJ finish 15 mins after Architects start, would like to catch a bit of RTJ, but rather not miss any of Architects- am I best to just miss RTJ altogether ?

Should I go for Jarvis Cocker or Johnny Marr? I reckon Marr will have a better crowd and it will hopefully let me get a good spot for Raconteurs and Strokes, but I'm also going to another festival this year where he's doing a 90+ min set...

Surely you’ll need a piss so would have had to give up your good spot at some point anyway...

It's not really a big festival site, I think it only took like 5 mins for me last time? That was just walking with a friend too, not rushing as if my life depended on it.

I'd recommend Viagra Boys and Willie J Healey, although most of the lineup doesn't stray too far from that sort of thing. Check them and all of that day's other acts out on this here Spotify playlist - songs are those most played at recent shows, based on Setlist.fm/Google.

I don’t understand the attraction in watching an act that doesn’t have the original singer. The singer plays such a critical role in the band’s sound. Just feels completely inauthentic to watch Smiths songs without Morrissey. Not much better than watching a covers band to my mind, despite Marr’s skills and place in the original.

How about capacity for Strokes day? How long before Strokes we should take a spot? Any idea? Because I wanna see Courtney Barnett and I am afraid because of many people.

Capacity is 40,000. No one could say for sure about getting a decent spot but I think you’ll be okay going over after Courtney B, as she finishes before The Raconteurs and not everyone necessarily wants to see them.

There’s a reason Morrissey solo isn’t as big as The Smiths.

Tribute bands are great tbh

I prefer cover bands to tribute bands myself. Whenever I see a tribute band in the pub it just comes off as cheap gimmicky but at least with cover bands it's just about the songs and keeping the crowd happy.

Because the other band members tell Morrissey to shut his twatish mouth when talking?

I’m not saying Morrissey is perfect. Just that Johnny Marr playing The Smiths is significantly less interesting than Morrissey playing The Smiths songs for me anyway. But neither remotely as good as seeing the original lineup.

I wasn’t really pointing towards Morrissey being a twat, I just meant that people want(ed) the two of them to reunite because of how much each of them brings to it. So Marr doing his song isn’t tantamount to Classically Smiths doing the song.

Agree with you.
