trouble is some may not of had cash or saw lucky dips were on so touts will sell you know they will thats why there is such a problem with touts and why they make it a profitable business

so that just comes down to the sheeple (purchaser) not being bothered to do some basic checks, like band website to check cost of tickets or boxoffice at the venue to see if any available and at what cost.

A touts job is to buy tickets and sell at a raised price to make proffit, of course they will do that.  They will only sell for less to cut their losses. the sooner every gig goes all 'Ed on them the better :)

Would be interesting to know sales numbers for these gigs (normal, lucky dip, not sold), 3,500 lucky dip tickets sold is an extra £100,000 for the band/promoter

I mean, people could have genuine problems with smokers too close to them in a confined area and you're like "nah they're cute"?

Do you lads have a toutless.com type of thing on the mainland? Where you can't sell tickets for over face value? I got a half price gold circle ticket on the day of the gig on there. Have bought loads over the years. Can usually get a ticket on the day for any gig and always cheaper, people taking what they can get.

well done for finding me last night - when you sent your first text to my old phone ' 20 seconds later ' and I would have missed it - it was that close as I was about to leave it my Flat - so had to transfer your number to my Smartphone !!! - when I reached that bench table I was typing out where I was when those three English guys sat down and for some reason the guy opposite me started asking questions so never got to send the text and the next thing ' you appeared ' - well it worked out well ' although if I ever go there again I will take a jumper as that area where we were sitting was catching the wind.Sorry I could not go on the field with you but there is no way I could have stood for that long.I left just as that last number was winding up so missed the Encore ' but that was enough to allow me to slip out via gate 2 and back to Hackney Wick avoiding the crowds - it was ironic we were sat close to that bar ' as they were dead slow ' - its a real big wind up when I see that - if they had two extra staff and a extra MDU they could have blitzed that queue - as I was leaving I spotted them moving the Kegs out - bloody hell that took me back - if the WBC were running those bars we would have been using tankers. if you need to print out a e-mail dive into a local library as I know my local will print out a e-mail for a small fee - have a great time on Friday. if I don't spot you before next Year I will for sure be working at Glastonbury { as I have my places confirmed } and we can sort out a meeting say at the Bread and Roses { I can get the set up crew to give me a lift down on a buggy } - hope you made your train.

A couple of fortuitous coincidences then. I saw your text about waiting at Bridge 2 about 20 minutes after you sent it, just as I happened to have stepped outside for a fag right opposite said bridge. Then I got a "no space for new messages" message and thought I may have missed you. Thought I would be too late, but had a look around and there you were.

It was well draughty in that spot wasn't it. Sorry I kind of ditched you there after Liam, but at £100 a pop I needed to feel the value and as stated, I'm kind of on escort duty on Friday (and could end up right at the back).

Didn't get a great spot it has to be said. From the merchandise stall on the left I didn't get much further than at the back of that and to the left a bit. Right hand side of the stage was blocked for me (when I could see the stage).

I started heading to the exit for the encore also and watched it from there. Needed a wee (bloody meds) so still hit the crowds though. 'kin nightmare but not as bad as the football.

Re that bar. Took me 20 minutes I think to get served after leaving you (you may have observed). Got to the bar just as The Stones were coming on. Initially thought it was down to the "no cash" idiocy, but given that I am becoming "annoying little old lady in front of you at the supermarket", with my wallet these days I don't think it's that. You are almost definitely correct. I mentioned they couldn't get the card machines to work at the start, didn't I?

Doesn't look like I'll need an email but I'll take a screenshot of it with me.

As for my train. Effing bus replacement service from Ashford! I paid for High Speed! Met a couple of couples from both work and my town at Stratford station though, which was a nice surprise and we had a laugh. Lost them on the way back in town though as I went for another 'comfort break'. Hope they weren't waiting for me somewhere.

Thanks for the company. Much appreciated. It was good to catch up. Can't believe it's been almost seven years. And we only met for a couple of hours then iirc :). Let's hope I get an "in" for Glasto.

Other notes:

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions re LD tix and emails.

What a setlist! Does it get any better than that?

Even Liam. I was kind of determined not to like it. But it was "Oh. I like this one. Oh I really love this one". He does all the good tunes his brother doesn't do any more. Didn't realise Bonehead was there! It was probably mentioned but, as with so many gigs, I couldn't make out a word being said during the chatty bits.

How much of a view do the sound desks and the merch stalls block there? Bloody loads is the answer. 80,000 gig capacity and how much wasted floor/viewing space. Everybody squeezed in down the sides and the middle. Not good. No room to move like Jagger (unless you want to see eff all). Wish they'd go back to the days of just one centre sound stage. Nobody buying stuff during the gig so the merch stalls were unnecessary but given the sound desks it wouldn't have made much difference if they weren't there. My first thought on seeing them where they were was, "typical money grabbing Stones".

And. How Much bloody Merchandise! I've never seen such a vast array of swag. Maybe if I went to a KISS gig? B)

The stage could have done with being higher. I'm nearly six foot but had to strain to get a glimpse from about the back of the merch stalls level.

As for smoking, I was glad to see that they opened it up so you could go outside. They didn't do that at the footy iirc. What got me was, at £100 quid a ticket, I still had people coming up to me and bumming fags. A hundred quid a pop and you can't afford a packet of fags? But I guess you have your priorities correct. ;)

Top tips for anybody going on Friday:

Gate/Turnstyle L is downstairs. One level under gates J/K. None of the stewards seemed to know this. You'd ask and they looked at you like you didn't know your alphabet. One of them clearly didn't as he tried to tell me that L comes between J and K (I left it, turns out he was luckily correct, but left out the essential "downstairs" part of the equation). Met lots of people with the same dilemma as I did about a lap and a half of the stadium looking for said gate. Saying that, they then just opened the gate. Absolutely no checking that anyone was at the right one (at least at gate L) other than a cursory check by a steward walking up the queue a couple of times asking to see wristbands. He didn't seem to be paying that much attention and it was a wide queue. Shit. Thinking about it, GW got there later and walked in with me through an exit! So, conclusion, once you're on the island, you can pretty much go through any gate if you're GA (I'd bet they check wristbands more thouroughly at Golden Circle etc).

Take some sunscreen. It got proper burny hot in that queue.

Heed the warnings other people have given about bag sizes. They're dead serious. Though I did see one guy with a largish rucksack who told me they only let him in with it after a bit of a debate and a long thorough search. I'm sure I also saw an out of place couple with drag along suitcases outside on the island.

Don't get ripped off for a can. Wait for a pint.

Um. I think that's it.

Roll on Friday.

So objecting to having smoke blown in your face makes you a “gammon” now? Just so you can have a perv?

I did not expect you to sit there - I would have gone down but I knew I would not last  - the seats in front got used by a bunch of guys who must be loaded - they all walked up with 6 pints each but they were fine - I went to the portable toilets outside and the one I went into still had toilet paper.

sorry about the cancelled train - what a pain - on my way back to Hackney Wick there was a whole fleet of Limousines and stretched Wagons parked up - there is a access road that goes down to the stadium - its not as far as I thought - good to see you after so long - hope you get Glasto sorted .

if I go again I will take a jumper - have a good time on friday

Can anyone help me identify a wristband I found (but didn't find a use for ) on my way in yesterday?

2018-05-23-190546.jpg.1945566b7d7b77572e5081394d3d23ee.jpg

I'm guessing it's a staff one of some kind as it doesn't have any Stone's logos plastered onto it.

Edit: Just seen this (apologies for source):

well spotted -

to deal with that link - I was sent a e ticket and no where does it mention bags and no mention in the e-mails as well  but going though the Stones site there was a link to London Stadium but then it was not clear what was going on as the information was about certain Football matches and even that did not give all the dimensions such as you get at airports -  the person at  Bridge 2 was using a megaphone - there was no mention about a left luggage facility - the words used was ' anything bigger than A5 you need to dump your bags ' - it should have been on ' all tickets '

by the way ' this is a new link ' - it was not there the other day

https://www.london-stadium.com/top-stories/rolling-stones-no-filter-tour-bag-policy

Small clutch bags, approximately A5 size (15cm by 21cm maximum), with or without a handle or strap will be allowed into host venues for Rolling Stones live performances

they are still treating it like a flat piece of paper { go to a airport and they use words like 'no bags larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 18in x 10in)' }

so would they allow in a bag 15cm by 21cm by 21cm ? - I am not sure ' and I don't think they are either '

 - note they don't mention the left luggage facility on that new link

So if a person was lucky - they were told to leave their bag in the left luggage facility
if the person was not lucky ' they were told to ditch their bags '

I was sat there for some time sitting in the shade having a smoke as I was not sure if I could carry in my plastic bag as I did not have a tape measure with me # and I think in inches ' and at no time did that guy at Bridge 2 tell anyone about a left luggage facility - I put my bag in my pocket - carried though my grapes and Fanta and once inside I put them back in the ' illegal plastic bag ' { sue me }

I saw females in tears having to dump their bags

by the way - they were selling t-shirts outside the venue and the plastic bags were larger than 15cm by 21cm

you will be able to check on Friday - you never know you may get a gold ticket.

who employs these idiots ?

a new link that ' does not mention they can store bags '

https://www.aegpresents.co.uk/faqs/rolling-stones-faqs

If you do choose to bring a bag, you should be aware that for ALL upcoming European performances the maximum bag size is:

One small clutch bag of approximately A5 size (15cm by 21cm maximum), with or without a handle or strap.Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper declaration and inspection.

As a result, the following items are prohibited and you will not be permitted to approach or enter the venue while carrying any bag or item of luggage larger than the permitted size, including purses, handbags, briefcases, backpacks, rucksacks, bum bags, cinch bags, computer/camera bags or coolers of any size - soft or hard sided

why the hell don't they tell people they can store their bag ?

I read through some of the 2013 thread last night, and there were a number of people (myself included) who were sure it was the last hurrah.  And here we are 5 years later.  Shows what we know.

Think I was one of those. I was also convinced it was going to be fairly poor going by a few opening night videos from the tour. Spectacularly wrong on all fronts and happy to be.

A bottle or can of Fanta? I had an empty water bottle ready to fill from a water point, but had to throw it away, actually no I got it snatched of me and thrown away...The more I think back, it was completely ridiculous. None of the "security" had a clue, the guy manning the queue for left luggage barely knew that was what the queue was for let alone the bag policy when asked (surely you would tell the security/steward manning the queue!?). All he said was and I quote, "I just got told to keep the queue in a line". The search was a joke really, not sure they had a clue what they were patting down for, seemed all for show.
