Didn't clock this when it was released but I've been loving Topical Fuck Storm's album the last couple of days. Some pretty heavy Nick Cave and Richard Dawson vibes in there, it's a great listen. The video here is a little... odd...

This new Lets Eat Grandma album is brilliant and is everything I hoped Chvrches would’ve done with their new’un.

Also can’t get enough of the new Freddie Gibbs mixtape - just 25 minutes of him spitting hard and it’s great.

Can't say I've ever bothered with Jay Rock before as I'd always assumed he was a bit of a C-list rapper but gave his new'un a spin yesterday and can't say I was overly impressed, and retain my original unfounded opinion of him for now. Seems to have some decent critical reception though so maybe I'll give it a few more goes before I write him off completely. Any of his older stuff worth a go?

Yeah definitely. I think this was quite hotly anticipated as he’s seen as an underrated TDE signee but it just seems like he’s been given some phoned in features and the beats the other team members didn’t want. And obviously King’s Dead but let’s not pretend that Kendrick would be taking Black Panther soundtrack songs for his next album.

First impressions on the new Florence? I'm not overly impressed to be honest. All feels a bit tired. Sky Full of Song is probably the best thing on it. Hope it grows on me.

Only had one listen through but yeah, just feels like more of the same and not a whole lot jumped out at me initially.

Ya more of the same is right, and even then it feels dishearteningly dumbed down. Like she's more or less completely dropped the elaborate baroqueness of her early stuff at this point and what's left feels a little generic.

Need a couple of more listens (a sweaty, packed Central Line was not the best place to debut it!), but on first listen I'd somewhat agree with you. Do think Grace is a tune though and June is a nice opener.

Not 'new' in that it came out about 6-8 weeks ago, but the new God is an Astronaut album is fantastic.

They are post-rock instrumental, something for Mogwai/prog rock fans. This album is a bit more doom and gloom from the rest but still brilliant. Probably my album of the year so far.
