Quark
Shame were an honourable mention. Not listened to Hop Along or Confidence Man, will give them a try
Badlands
Listened to loads more new stuff this year - probably a bit too early for lists but I already cannot see past Kali Uchis for album of the year. Whilst it's production and guest list list ticks all the boxes for the chin strokers, it's just a cracking album of pop, soul and RnB. Spare a thought for Spoon, whose album last year was the most popular on here at some point early in the year when people did their lists, and completely forgotten about by the end of the year. Boy Azooga Ty Segall Parquet Courts Hinds Goat Girl The Voidz Ezra Furman Dream Wife Lovely Eggs Confidence Man Although I can't be bothered ordering them PC definitely top. I feel like Death Grips should be in there but I've only had it a few hours.

Instead my mind turns to creating order out of chaos, and no better way to do it than creating a list. Specifically 15 albums of 2018 thus far... Given my carefully trained ear, technical understanding of the recording process, and deep lyrical insights, it's based on the detailed and thought-through criteria of "stuff I like to have in my ears". Basically just albums I've been coming back to since hearing them. No particular order. Little Dark Age - MGMT The Magic Gang - The Magic Gang Sky High and Submarine - Mono Club Singularity - Jon Hopkins Illusion of Perfection - Spencer Brown Wide Awake! - Parquet Courts Tell Me How You Really Feel - Courtney Barnett Resistance Is Futile - Manic Street Preachers 1, 2, Kung Fu! - Boy Azooga Hope Downs - Rolling Blackout CF Have at it... You are not very good at counting.

Mash011
Also: despite having prematurely dunked on it a bit I've actually come away fairly positive from that Gorillaz album. Much better than Humanz on first impression - it's very much a Damon solo album but tbh I should've realised that was something I needed, and it's probably a better Damon solo album than Everyday Robots was anyway. It's not earth shattering or anything but it's a nice little collection of mostly good Damon songs and that does it for me.
