Albert Hall has gone down in my estimations recently. Beer is stupidly expensive in there and the last three gigs I've been to there have just been full of scousers talking. Yes is the place to be. It's a decent venue, but sold out shows can be a bit of a pain if you're not there early. Much prefer the Deaf Institute and Gorilla anyway. You think it's a shithole now...? No chance it was worse pre commonwealth games. It is an eye sore now with a load of stupid looking buildings lumped there. There was not the amount of drugs prevalent as there are now. The bus terminus was a bit dodgy as that was where you had to get a match bus or the P11 to Maine road. Knackered old pub round the back of Piccadilly Station that for years hosted the best night out in the city - Smile. Was in there most Saturdays between 2004 and 2010. For the past 3 or 4 years Australia is where my favourite guitar-based music has been coming from.
