Long ago it was considered as a superstition that something unwanted was set to happen when the scores read 111, 222 (or) 333 etc., as 111 resembled the set of stumps without the bails. (Batsman bowled).

But it was proved wrong by a magazine in the 90s, where they proved that Nelson was much safer score than 0, where most wickets are likely to fall.

David Shepherd, though made a trend of raising a leg whenever scores read nelson (or) multiples of nelson.
