To be fair, there's quite a difference between the horrific stuff Saville, which was out and out assault with really young children, and deliberately not asking the age of a 14 or 15yr old groupie.

That's not to absolve John Peel of any guilt, but the harm caused by the two seems to be in a totally different league.
