Swung by the farm this afternoon to check that the new drain (built early 2017 after a spring appeared on our pitch in 2016!) was working ok. It was fine. Softwood offcuts already piled up at the railway line ready for this summer.  Photo taken at dusk. Edit now I'm on my laptop, not phone.  Got to our pirch in 2016 about two weeks before the festival to drop the first load of stuff off. About two metres uphill and out from our pitch was a strange mound that was about three metres diameter and about two thirds of a metre high in the middle. Never seen anything like it before. The weather had been totally crap, pissing it down for dayd. I explored the mound with my boot and it felt like a water bed and moved like one too. I dug my heel into it and that was that. Brown custard erupted from it and started flowing downhill. The mound slowly started to collapse and eventually joined the same height as the rest of the field. During the festival build it just became the supurating swamp from hell. A proper hippo's mud bath oozing copiously for the duration and during the takedown as well. I told our lovely field organiser Sal and moaned to Rob Kearle the following winter who is in charge of all sorts of important stuff . Hey presto, by spring 2017 there was a huge circular area of stones where the spring had appeared and a line of stones from there down to the ditch. Job done. Hats off to the infrastructure guys on the farm. They are so on the case. Will try to find some pics of before and after. Feel free to come and inspect their stirling work. The capped spring can be seen just uphill from where our table is. J    Oh, and finally there are sheep everywhere :)

Didn't you post videos of it a few days before the festival started? Horrific stuff.

Haha, yes I did. 2016, but fret not, it won't be like that this year. Going to be lovely.

A reminder of what we're not going to be looking forward to. Don't worry, I haven't jinxed it. Am posting this with a pencil upeach nostril and a broad bean in one ear and a clove of garlic in the other. Sorted.

Listened to lots of new / classic music over the weekend. Janelle Monáe's Dirty Computer is great, I've discovered a liking for Chvrches and Giorgio Moroder has soundtracked shower time. Twice.

Been thinking about festival booze and after recently loosing a fair amount of weight I've lost the ability to put away large quantities of beer. So I'm thinking about taking a box of red wine this year but I'm a bit of a wine snob, are there any decent wines you can buy in a box that people would recommend?

I would look at it as an opportunity to research. One mans drink is anothers poison and all that jazz. ;)

It’s a good point! Guess I’m have to spend some quality time sampling some quality boxed wines haha

Ordered some walking boots from the Mountain Warehouse sale. Were £60, down to £30 and even got some sneaky student discount too!

Now just have to hope that the shop will hold them until I'm out of plaster cast and can get down there next weekend... 😅

Been listening to Stormzy and am really starting to look forward to his set. I only won't see him due to a clash with a performance I really cannot miss. I hope this doesn't happen though.

I've been lurking around these pages, feeling somewhat sick to my stomach that I still do not have that golden ticket for the first time since I've been going. Please Resale day, hurry up!

Do share your results - anything that breaks the unholy trinity of shit Merlot/CabSauv/Shiraz is to be welcomed.

Bit picky about wine myself. Did Tescos Tempranillo last year. Not bad,

The wine from the wine bars on site are fairly decent too these days.
