Hello all,

What's the general opinion on wellies for the weekend? Firstly, would you advise on bringing them, namely due to the weather?

Secondly, if they are recommended, would you advise on wearing them or packing them? The ones which I have are very industrial, and as such are rather heavy (travelling by coach so the less weight the better), so may be better on the feet,

Thanks in advance!

you probably won't need them but I would (and will) bring them. I usually wear them to walk in and then leave them in the tent if I don't need them. They are awkward to carry I find, so put them on me feet to walk in and stick my trail shoes in my back pack.

There are plenty on here that will say you should take wellies whatever the forecast - I got through 2004 and 2005 in just a pair of trainers so I can promise you'll be fine without. If it gets bad for some reason they are sold on site. Enjoy!

PS I'm taking a pair of lightweight wellies.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

I liken it  to F1 tyres

Softs- Trainers

Intermediates- waterproof hiking boots

Wets- Wellies.

For U.K. and Northern European festivals, I always take all three 'compounds' as it were.

This weekend I could just leave the wellies in the car, but you never know what's going to happen.

Glastonbury is like Spa, has it's own microclimate where anything can happen.

If we are forced to wear wellies does this also mean we have to walk slowly behind someone wearing waders until it's clear enough for more intermediate footwear?

My other half didn't take wellies in 2005.  He's never going to let me do the same!

I took wellies in 2005, then on the first day declared I didn't need them, so carried them back to the car when I went back to get the rest of my stuff.

Had to buy a second pair
