New York Brass Band wipe the floor with any other brass bands *cough*hot8*cough*.

If you can, check them out when they play the outside circus - it's just such a joyful and inclusive thing - everyone will be singing and dancing and (on one memorable occasion) being fed rum straight from the bottle by one of the band. See them once and you'll see them time and time again.

One of the best things I've ever seen was in 2007 (shiver) when the Guilty Pleasures Band opened the Jazz/World.

House band with guest singers. So the Magic Numbers doing 9-5; one of the Markeys doing Charles and Eddie; Guy Garvey cheating and doing something not that shit; and Suggs supplying the star quality at the end with Love is in the Air.

Great start to the fest with hardly anyone in attendance, It was all downhill from there!

I know this isn't new - and I've never heard them before - but the best cover band I have ever heard of is an Elbow cover band, called Arse.
