Don't think this new Twenty One Pilots album is gonna be nearly as big as I was thinking. Will still hit no. 1 in a tough week but I was expecting a bit more fanfare. Maybe this is where surprise releases fuck up.

I don't think they will headline next year

They have definitely lacked a big single to help push sales (I thought 1975 was doing badly on that front but 21P i think is doing even worse on this album?). I still think they'll headline outright at this point, but agreed that it won't be as huge as expected.

I still think they’ll headline too. Just thought it was gonna be a more of an obvious choice come February.

Couple of songs on there to add to the live catalogue. Enough to definitely warrant sub / co-headline but you know the crowd will still be go more nuts for the older tunes (Stressed Out, Heathens etc...).

It'll be interesting to see where they place on next year's festival scene, specifically around Europe.

Noticed most UK arenas have sold out but still standing tickets for the one date at Wembley.

to be fair, they have added 2 extra dates to what they started with i'm sure they'll sell eventually.

Spoke to my mate who works freelance writing for music magazines, interviews all the big names.

The last he heard about festivals was about 2 weeks ago - he has said that they have 1 of the HL booked, and this year they are targeting a 'diverse group of acts for the main stage' in terms of gender/ethnicity (skin colour basically). The acts they are going for are aimed at the mid-teen demographic that will bring in the 15/16/17 year olds. He said they are going for 4 HL acts so 1 day will be co-headline.

Didn't tell me any names of people. But targeting 15-17 year old fans sounds like its a no for Foo's and people like Green Day and MCR etc. 21 Pilots now sounds a shoe in. Meh. I go for the drinking and socialising anyway.

If this is true then it would be quite a downer for me. I feel having a good legendary headliner like Foos would be good enough but having 4 HLs that are aimed at those ages would be meh to be honest.

So...

Twenty One Pilots

1975

Imagine Dragons/Catfish

Is a possibility? Think this is getting into nightmare territory..

Your freelance journalist pal served up a pretty terrible scoop last year - and that what he's told you there seems like nonsense as well - so I get the feeling that you're being lied to for clout.

Listened to that new Logic album bc of the Wu Tang ensemble cut and I actually right liked all of it. Never been a fan of his singles that I've heard but the guy is really talented and uplifting in a Chance the Rapper kinda way. Gonna listen to all his other tapes now but I mentioned it here because I think he's gonna be about third down main and I would support that booking woo.

Nice. If the reviews I’ve seen are correct then it might not measure up to his best stuff, but as I say I enjoyed it coming in as a non-fan. Not that I think it’s essential but it’s good to see a modern rapper who pays respect to the classics.

Any chances of J Cole playing and if so what sort of slot?

I think he’ll just stick to headlining rap festivals rather than take a lower slot at R+L. He’s big but I don’t think he’s mainstream enough to headline this.
