Selling out arenas in this country, headlining the second biggest festival over here, just released an album to huge critical acclaim, making inroads in America and another album due to drop this year... They’re only going in one direction and it’s wilful ignorance to think they won’t be in the picture next year.

Yes they will be one of the biggest acts in England, Europe maybe even but the world....give over lol.

I had to run the bloody London Marathon last year as Glastonbury selfishly had my 50 th birthday off .

Not sure what that has to do with Glastonbury lol, but I did too.

Well done. Because people earlier in the thread were showing photos of themselves being at the festival for their big birthdays, and I couldn’t.

one of the most popular current bands around...

well used to big televised shows...

a wealth of guests that they could bring out...

a hit with the BBC TV audience...

a hit with the people who pack the field for Adele/Coldplay/Sheeran...

playing gigs in Europe in June...

ladies and gentlemen, your Saturday headliner is.........

Look if this is just a ploy to make The Strokes seem better... well, it’s worked.

He he, you've still got 30 to go, which is one I really enjoyed.

Being much more pished than advisable and setting off loads of fireworks in the field which is now Spring Ground on the Wednesday of Glastonbury 98.

Happy days.

I'm not generally one of those "the glory days are over" types but if we genuinely are staring directly down the barrel of The Strokes in the year of our lord 2019 then it's difficult to be flippant.

I dont exaggerate when I say that this is one of the symbols of the forthcoming apocalypse, as revealed to John of Patmos: the Seven Headed Dragon, the Great Whore Babalon and the Early Noughties One Trick Ponies unjustly claiming dominion over the earth.

Fear not brother, a mere glitch in The Matrix.

Through the peaks and troughs we must venture.

For every Beyoncé we must endure a Sinead O Connor moment.

For every Rolling Stones a Travis.

If we want Madonna we must encounter a Strokes moment.

The balance must be re-set.

Okay, despite CalGon's doomsday prophesying it looks increasingly like The Strokes are the most realistic prospect for our third headliner. Had a go at putting together a setlist that I think would have a chance of banging on the Pyramid (it presumes they'll have some sort of new music to drop between now and then);

  • The Modern Age
  • Soma
  • New Song #1
  • Someday
  • 12:51
  • Reptilia
  • Is This It
  • Juicebox
  • Automatic Stop
  • Trying Your Luck
  • New York City Cops
  • The Way It Is
  • Barely Legal
  • What Ever Happened
  • Last Nite

ENCORE 1

  • New Song #2
  • Heart in a Cage
  • Hard to Explain

ENCORE 2

  • Under The Cover of Darkness
  • Take It or Leave It

Haha I see, bloody hot race last year

Unbelievable mate. It was my first marathon and I had to do something to celebrate my 50th. Got round in 5.59 which I was very pleased with being 17.5 stone as well! Doing it again in 2020 with my Wife for her 50th, although she has Glastonbury 2020 to look forward to.
