Listen man if The Rascal is spitting his bars with his severely grating voice, and he tells you repeatedly to "jump" when his tunes break, coupled with a smidge of pyrotechnics... what you gonna do?

Woffy standing like a rock in the crowd with his arms folded and a face like Nora Batty. Not having any of it.

Not as confused as I am at your confusion.  Of course those are the lyrics.

Now I'm confused as to why you're confused about my confusion.

I was trying to work out whether the poster was being sarcastic that James Brown has given the crowd instructions/used the term "take it to the bridge", so why is it an issue that Dizzee does it. I explained how it's  completely different as those are actually lyrics, as opposed to the shite DR was coming out with.

Never seen them live. Wasn’t into their records so doubt I’ll ever bother. I think it’s safe to say they won’t ever headline Glastonbury.

Whenever I see you post I just burst out laughing at your name/picture :D

Oh ok, I see.  It was definitely sarcasm.

You... you do know he's not talking about a bridge like the Clifton suspension bridge, right?

You.... you do realise that I am referring to Dizzee literally replacing his lyrics with the word JUMP, right?

Fully aware JB wasn't referring to the work of the Great Isambard, yes.

It's the Arctic Monkeys' disinterest in being there - or whether or not the audience are even enjoying themselves -  that makes them so distinctive a live proposition.  They've taken one look at acts like James Brown who try to whip up some enthusiasm and decided that there has to be a better, more static and underwhelming way.

Judging by this thread, the audience are making a concerted effort not to.

The broader you set your horizons the less chance that act is suitable for headlining Glastonbury. I’m sure you have a deep, deep musical knowledge of every genre under the sun but unfortunately your average festival goer doesn’t.

So where does that leave us? Happy mediums between credibility, innovation and mass appeal. Like I said point me in the direction of suitable acts better fitting.

Never thought they look disinterested any time I've seen them personally. Singers/bands all have their own style and personalities. If their music does the talking I'm happy with that. Some need the reassuring enthusiasm of old Rasc. ?

Glad someone else noticed the turn this thread has taken.

I'm not really an AM fan at all but the criticism of their live shows is a bit daft. It clearly works for a LOT of people and at the end of the day, whatever works right?

So because something is popular, it's daft to criticise because it's obviously working?
