Don't reckon Rihanna's moment has passed. Timberlake's probably hasn't either, really, but he's never really entered the conversation for Glastonbury headliners even when touring so don't really have anything to measure his current appeal against.

Sorry, I edited my post :(  When I got the notification you’d quoted me I thought it was you popping up to put me right on Kanye being booked five years too late

Great. Now I have to read a whole nother post!

But yeah I'm not sure what it would be like if Justin Timberlake headlined. With Lady Gaga and Rihanna - even if they've slipped - they've both been huge in not-so-distant memory and are recent cultural icons who are one degree away from what's massive right now. Justin Timberlake still has huge hits but he hasn't seemed current for at least ten years, and I don't really know what demographic he pulls in and whether those folk would be at Glastonbury. Would bet his Coachella set will go down poorly.

Dave from The Killers (who is now not touring with them and is releasing his own solo material) has said in an interview that he assumes The Killers will put out an album sometime next year.

(They don’t want to wait the usual 3-4 years again)

Without checking, didnt the Killers headline the same year as Macca last time?

it might not make a difference, but wouldn’t seem very progressive.to have 2/3 of the same headliners from fifteen odd years ago.

It was Oasis and Muse I think.

Yep. Quick Google confirmed it.

The Killers smashed it last year, proper triumph. Can't see them headlining again though. I certainly wouldn't have made the effort to see them if they were on later than they were and I got the impression others wouldn't have either.

I'm fully on board with Gaga doing it and The Cure. Hopefully I get to see LDR / Tame Impala or a Park headliner on the other day :D

Had sine memory of a friend singing playing Mr Brightside down the phone to us as we were at home. Was sure she was at the Macca one. But clearly not.

Killers played JP that year (or the new tent, as it was then).

Could be wrong, but isn’t the source that mentioned The Cure to Neil the same source that mentioned Arctic Monkeys?

Don't think so. Think he had a few sources on The Cure, too.

I thought it was nailed on to happen at some point - he’s brilliant live and would’ve won over a lot of people - until his latest album was mostly beyond embarrassing and deservedly bombed. I’d love it but he had to pull half of his most recent UK tour due to abysmal ticket sales earlier this year, so I’m not so sure his moment hasn’t passed now.

He’s in the ‘would pull a hefty crowd but should’ve been booked five years ago if it was ever going to happen’ boat along with Rihanna and, until ASIB came out, Gaga. Although they booked Kanye when he was firmly within that category so idk if it’s something that would prevent them from booking JT if the opportunity arose.

I disagree on Kanye. Yeah, he could have headlined years earlier but his most recent album when they booked him was Yeezus, and I'd say he was still at the peak of his powers then.

Hi Guys,

quick question, new poster!

if Michael eavis last year said 2 of the 3 acts to headline have never planned before (I’m assuming he means played headline slot) wouldn’t that rule out both macca and the cure completely as cure have headlined multiple times and macca has done it before. Does this mean we will probably only see one of these headlining (hopefully macca and not cure, personal preference) and then it frees up stormzy and gaga to both headline or even 1975 (again don’t think stormzy/1975 are ready yet). Just a thought as we all seem prettt dead set in it being cure and macca ?

Michael says the same shit every year and it almost never ends up being the case.

Would be genuinely stunned if AM don’t play and headline. Just feels like the Glastonbury way to go.

Which is exactly why it shouldn't happen - I'm sure AM don't want to become another Glastonbury house band like Muse and Coldplay have become. They'd benefit a lot from giving it another few years.

A very fair, and revelant, point. Can’t help but echo the sentiment. Just feels like a straight fit - which is perhaps why it shouldn’t happen.

I reckon AM will do Reading / Leeds. Seems much more realistic to me.

Guy with proven good info on the R&L section says their headliners are Foos/The 1975/Twenty One Pilots. Right now we don't even have any indication that Arctic Monkeys are touring next Summer other than that tweet about them playing MSG, a special UK gig and an iconic June festival - if true I wouldn't be surprised if that's all they're doing.
