Huge star, massive fanbase, no 1 albums, influenced the entire sound of druggie music for years? One more album and he'd be there. Wtf. And no I don't think Glasto would ever book someone like Avicii. If they did then Calvin Harris would have been a much more likely candidate. Hadn't Avicii retired or stopped touring anyway? If not, he definitely wasn't as big as he was a few years back. 3 minutes ago, Odessa said: Bring back jj200 I was lirerally gonna say in tbe other thread that I'm bored of this guy now and want jj200 back instead. Maybe not at The Stone Circle, but in Silver Hayes it could happen, but it won't be smokes going round. Your objection to this is rooted in an old-fashioned view of what music is appropriate for Glastonbury, if Kanye West can be a Glastonbury headliner, there's no reason Avicci couldn't. You’re genuinely delusional. Avicci would never have played at all, let alone headlined and Kanye is and always will be completely different to Avicci. Kanye is a genius. Avicii made music for the lowest common denominator in America. Aside from that he retired from playing live. He would never have headlined Glastonbury festival. Kanye West is one of the most critically acclaimed, influential artists of this century ffs. You're baffling.

Gucci Piggy
Just now, battleborn said: There's no reason they can't headline Glastonbury whilst touring THBC. The last time they headline formed part of their AM tour. But even then they've already announced the American and European legs of the tour which takes us up to the end of October, they might do a few stadium gigs in South America and Asia and then they'll be done, which could leave them still on tour next year to headline. No I'm saying Glastonbury won't book them to headline whilst they're touring this album because it won't go down well with the crowd. Next time they play will be in 2026 doing the 20th anniversary of Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.

Although they could headline in 2021 if they release something more commercial. Suppose that leaves Muse / The 1975 / Sam Smith Not exactly the most inspiring Glastonbury line up in history. Muse are also headlining in 2026 on the 20th anniversary of Black Holes and Revelations, sorry.

Mattymooz
I mean comparing Avicii to Kanye is a bit far fetched, but I reckon he could have headlined. He'd stopped touring for a while due to health reasons but was still producing and stuff. Considering who he had already worked with (Coldplay, Madonna, Robbie Williams, Nile Rogers etc.) and the fact the stuff he was putting out was still hitting the charts was a testament to the fact he was still doing well (and could have grown bigger tbh). I'm not convinced Glasto would have had him (they don't seem to like DJ's getting the top spots, and as already said they would obviously pick Calvin first cause he's British or Daft Punk... cause they're Daft Punk). And to people saying he made low-denominator pop, I think you're being silly. Levels changed the game really and started a new wave of pop, it was so influential that so many artists attribute Avicii when asked who got them into electronic music. Then after that he changed again with Wake Me Up and his other country-edm crossover stuff (again, which no one pretty much has ever done since apart from arguably Lindsey Stirling's stuff). On top of the Coldplay and Madonna production credits too. Avicii wasn't great live, and he was quite shy and had all the medical issues, but his production was outstanding. Hugh Jass
Avicii headlining Other wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow, no different to Skrillex or Dedmau5 who have both done it.

It wouldn't have been that out of place but I think Skrillex and especially Deadmau5 are both much more respected artists than Avicii. But the suggestion was him headlining Pyramid which obviously wouldn't have happened.
