Someone give Gav a job.  Local TV, radio station... he has put so much effort into this.

Gav: if you're coming to the festival, I'll buy you a cocktail...

I've been lurking this thread for weeks, and Gav really is the shining star.

Norwegians now up to the Sunday, with no chance other than a light 0.9mm drizzle on Saturday morning

Just realised I was looking at Shepton Mallet. 0.7mm for Pilton with the same on Sunday evening

I'm starting to feel a bit defensive of jack one now, what with this new boy Gav on the scene.

You've had your heads all turned by fancy graphics and a whiff of sunshine. He only uses the GFS! I'm waiting for the next blog post.

Been following gavs vids for the last 3/4 Glastonburys and he's always been pretty bob on

Not been following this thread much at all this year (basically with the assumption of 'Well at least it cant't be as bad as last year') so nice to pop in and see it's all seemingly going our way. As always approaching with caution and no chance I'm gonna leave my boots behind, but oh jesus, could we actually be about to have a relatively rain free Glastonbury!?

With less than a week to go I feel I'll be coming in here more and more.

Hope they drum into people more than usual about pissing on the land. When it's hot the levels in the stream always end up high causing warnings from environmental guys. Plus folk drink more, causing more pissing on the land. Don't think the green police still go around do they?

public service message over

Here is a summary somebody wrote from the Friday before the festival on last years weather thread, pick the one you think called it best (BBC were completely wrong at this stage predicting it to be completely dry)

Reckon GFS is probably most accurate there. It didn't absolutely bucket down during the festival itself.

Aren't they all wrong?

As I remember it, we had heavy rain Wednesday morning then it was dry until Friday lunchtime when we got a drenching. Then it was fine again until Sunday when we got another drenching.

Im trying to comfort myself with the fact* that it's easier to forecast a period of dry weather than it is to forecast what will happen during unsettled weather.

*totally made up by me just now.
