danbailey80
I would stick with that. I Know it's not ideal but with the ground so dry it can take showers anyway
kalifire
That's not a nightmare scenario by any means. Things could get damp over the weekend but would have to get very wet indeed to cause a total mud bath. Based on that 2017 is going to be the best year since 2014. Deaf Nobby Burton
The worse case scenario in those runs isn't even that bad, as long as they don't all progressively deteriorate (which of course is possible) then we should be ok. tarw
If the ground is baked and we have heavy rain it will run straight off rather than soaking in. Don't pitch at the bottom of the hill guys.

scaryclaireyfairy
Yr.no is giving us 2.4ml of rain over the Friday. That's not loads. Plus it's as likely to never happen or happen 2 days later at this point.

Like they said it'll mostly run towards the lowest point so don't camp at the bottom of any hills. Google "2005 Glasto floods" and you'll see why. Site was baked dry as a desert until it rained! scaryclaireyfairy
Perfectly dry sponge. Lob water at it and it'll take on some but not loads. Some will just bead on top. Lob water on damp sponge and it'll drink it up. Very dry surfaces take a minute to catch up is my explanation. I'm sure someone with actual science words will explain better soon, if not before I hit post.

The soil is clay, mood soil will tend to have lots of tiny air pockets witch help the water to drain through the soil, Dry compacted clay will have amost non of these are pockets and so the water will not have have anywhere to go. As a fair novice of merely camping next to the coach station in Darble last year, how would Oxlyers fare in these prospective conditions? Believe the folk I'm meeting will be there... cloudb
The bit of rain that BBC are forecasting for Tuesday night might help soften up the ground a little. Oh, it's not there anymore. Oh well. Edited June 14, 2017 by cloudb
