Well considering it didn't sound great with Coldplay, that might not be the best idea.

Or he could do what all older singers do and not sing in a ridiculous register.

i have Ike records, and some Bar Kays records, and never put the two together.  some of those arrangements on Hayes' albums are truly astonishing.  i have a very soft spot for his version of You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling.
