Haven't listened to the single yet but the press release said its like a moody soundtrack for an imagined sci fi film. And the article I read compared it to John Carpenter.

🙋‍♂️In

Edit: Just played it, two minutes of basically that description above. He really can do no wrong.

A couple months ago there were serious negotiations. Also Glastonbury, RW, DTRH were in the market. I don't know how the case is now.

I quoted this earlier in this thread but yer man Ken said this about Sufjan in the Bilbao BBK thread last year. Hopefully he's available next year, though I'm torn between wanting the much coveted Park headline set or an afternoon/evening Pyramid set.

He'd be an unreal Friday night park headliner if we're losing Kendrick from the top spot.

Sufjan's always struck me as a bit too big for the Park, although after Hot Chip and now Manics maybe a case could be made that he'd be the right size. Would obviously be dream scenario stuff, and fingers crossed Glastonbury gets him booked somewhere down the line, regardless of where he is on the lineup. Just hoping this album is followed by some tour dates. Fuck knows why I didn't go to see him on the Carrie & Lowell tour but I won't be making that mistake again.

Sounds like it could've come straight from the collaborative Planetarium album he did a couple of years back, or even Age of Adz - more slow glitchy electronics etc than the more simple acoustic strumming of Carrie & Lowell or big orchestral arrangements of Illinois. Shot straight to the top of the pile of my most hyped albums of the year.

Park would be grand but I want to say he could do JP, especially with his stage show taking up more room than the Park might afford.

Get Editors out the way and have Sufjan dazzle us all instead.

Depends what the stage show is like for this album cycle tbf. If it's Adz-esque - yeah, it'll be cramped on the Park, but if it's C&L-like, no problems.

(I'd be hoping for something Adzy for a festival though, obv)

I read on ze net the b-side - also chunky in length - is available in the “normal places” *cough*

has anyone been able to find it?

Yeah also read this and also curious as to where these ‘normal places’ are. Since I gave up and got Apple Music I’ve been out of the ‘normal places’ game and it’s times like these when it comes back to sting me.
