Although I hope that I'm wrong and they get A Tribe Called Quest. Never played before, new album, similar audience - they tick all the boxes.

Yep and if Frank has to be replaced by anybody I hope it's them!

So with tonight's news, Arcade Fire must now be odds on to be playing a secret show on the Tuesday or Wednesday in town somewhere to promote their new album...

Arcade Fire played a secret show in Montreal over the weekend to a crowd of around 50 people and debuted 6 new songs. Probably means new album is imminent. Would love if they played one of the surprise shows building up to the festival and it would make a lot of sense.

Also playing one the Wednesday after Primavera. Looks like a seating gig, 1800-capacity venue.

The pre-festival gig will either be Bon Iver or the xx. The first one did it in 2014 with Volcano Choir and the guys from the xx are friends with the fest, start the European tour on Primavera, Jamie is likely to play on Saturday as a special guest etc... I don't think it's Arcade Fire because a) they are way too big to manage this kind of surprise show (I remind you that entry is free and restricted to full-ticket owners. A LOT of people would be pissed) and b ) they already did this last year (search Arcade Fire Razzmatazz).

When/how do you find out about the pre-festival gig? And how easy is it to get tickets/get in? I imagine if it's acts as big as LCD and everybody with festival tickets has access then it's a mad dash to get in?

3000 stading, 1500 seating.

It could also be an Auditori gig.

last year LCD Soundsystem's show was announced very late, I think less than a week before the festival starts. Luckily I managed to get there early enough to grab a ticket but you're definitely more likely to get in the earlier you arrive in Barcelona.

Announced on the 23rd, tickets were out on the 25th, the things happened on the 31st. So lucky I wanted to see more of Barcelona during my first stay there.

I scored a ticket during the "sale", made it through delays both before and after the flight and managed to get to my apartment 2.5 hours before doors. I went straight to the Forum to get my bracelet, grabbed a quick burger, took a shower and got to the doors just in time.

I can see you being right about your two names.

I don't understand what could possibly cause people to be 'pissed' about a festival delivering the headline band that they effectively paid for when they bought their ticket AND also the chance of a second intimate show?

It reminds me of the ridiculous entitlement of that woman complaining about Grandaddy...

What are people doing on the last night (saturday night) after arcade fire?? I don't really know many of the acts after that? What is there in terms of dancey house / deep house??

I doubt I'll watch Arcade Fire, but there's !!! a bit later (doesn't quite fit the spec, sorry).

I predict I'll probably be shattered by then anyway

Here's hoping. Could still go either way really - that they've kept quiet because he's still playing and it's not a concern to them, or they've kept quiet because they're mad-dashing around trying to find a replacement. I guess with Grandaddy also pulling out of a slot at the exact same time they'd definitely want to find an alternative rather than have nothing.

I have a full festival ticket for sale. A friend of mine works for one of the sponsors and has managed to get an extra VIP ticket (lucky, I know!). I bought mine back in January, before they were sold out. If anybody is interested or knows anybody interested, send me a message. I'm not trying to make any business here, so I'm selling it for the original price. This will be my 10th time enjoying Primavera Sound, so I just want for somebody who didn't have the chance to get hold of a ticket to come and enjoy this top-tier festival!
