Do you mean their ex-drummer who they fell out with, or their new one who drums for Joanna Newsom? Was actually referring to FJM, but didn't know that Big J New's drummer was in the band until now, big fan of him as well, Joanna's band are incredible. Gucci Piggy
LCD and Peej playing an American fest weekend of July 14-16. Haven't checked but I'd guess that's the weekend of Latitude? Edit: Yeah it is. Edited December 6, 2016 by Will-2609

The advantages are twofold; it confirms LCD are active for live shows next year, and it confirms they wont be playing Latitude (I'm having a year off next year). Rose-Colored Boy
The 1975's manager has said this and I don't know where else he'd be talking about
dentalplan
No me neither. Didn't think they'd be still touring but as they are, Latitude makes perfect sense. Bigger question is what the other 'special festival slot' is.
FloorFiller
would make sense for them to headline a smaller festival next year before moving on to the big ones with their next album. not a terribly inspired booking if it happens but i guess it makes sense for them to continue to to ride the wave of success
dentalplan
Yeah doing the year after a barrage of festivals won't quite be as effective as doing it like when Foals and alt-J were each bumped up on the first summer touring an album. Still, I guess it'll probably be the last year where they could feasibly headline Latitude and if it is a semi-rare outing next summer then it should do alright. Well deserved too, been listening to the album a fair bit recently just to check I wasn't getting carried away with their reappraisal and it is a very good album top-to-bottom. Next record is gonna be proper interesting.

kingcrawler
Given Bastille aren't an exclusive at R&L and them headlining Latitude seemed like a fairly likely option, I'm not so sure they'd have them and The 1975 in the same year. I know The 1975 are seen differently to the way they were a couple of years ago but I can't remember Latitude having two headliners of that type in the same year. I agree they deserve a slot like this though, as dental says the album is really good and certainly changed my thoughts on them to the point where I'm going to see them in a couple of weeks
kingcrawler
Anyone got any idea what the other could be? Can't see them playing higher up at any of the major festivals they did last year, maybe even headlining something like Parklife?
dentalplan
I think Bastille might not quite be up there to headline. On that survey (I know it probably has nothing to do with the bookers) they had The 1975 as a "who would you like to see headline?" option and Bastille as a "who else would you like to see?" one. Probably more of a possibility for something like Kendal Calling or another smaller do. Parklife is a good shout as it's quite local to their hometown. I was thinking V second stage headliner but I dunno why that'd be special - it might actually be pretty awful for them. Chawk
the other might just be Longitude Also, I just had a couple really special bowls of cereal (not Special K either), followed by a special glass of water. FloorFiller
was thinking maybe Victorious for Bastille if The 1975 end up taking the top spot at Latitude

dentalplan
I see Wilco have been announced for the, uh, Pori Jazz Festival in Finland, which takes place from the 8th-16th. About time they returned init.
scatteredscreens
Sigur Ros maybe? Seems like they're planning on doing some stuff in 2017, and couldn't imagine them being at many other festivals.

dentalplan
Lana D, Ryan Adams, Dino Jr., Foster the People, Deap Vally, Royksopp, Spoon and Kiasmos announced for (I think, not checking) their first European festivals this morning. Lana headlining while Adams 'entertains' on the second stage sounds a possibility.
kingcrawler
A trio of Lana Del Rey, The 1975 and then a repeat of one of Bon Iver or Sigur Ros would be pretty strong, could see something like selling quite well although it maybe does lack an older name like they usually have. Sigur Ros is an older name at this point, tho I was thinking it'll be the other three so I dunno. I just knocked this brief thing together from the names that are about: THE 1975, Phoenix, Bonobo, Real Estate 6m: Royksopp, Circa Waves, Spoon BON IVER, London Grammar, Wilco, Foster the People 6m: Wolf Alice, Dinosaur Jr. LANA DEL REY, Fleet Foxes, Local Natives, Warpaint 6m: Ryan Adams, Glass Animals, The Kills
