must be the last act on then as they're a pretty big name

possibly - Vaccines did it when they were quite big but from what I can recall they messed around with the timings (on purpose, I think) as it was getting too crowded

Has it ever been someone due to play the Pyramid before? Seems a bit off an odd thing to do

Yeah - Vaccines in 2013

and The 1975 in 2014 - both very similar sized acts to what TDCC are now

Also, know they weren't Pyramid or even playing at all, but Bastille did it last year and even then they were probably just as big as those two

Bastille played on the Friday last year so not really the same thing. TDCC are definitely the right sized act to finish off the three secret Thursday acts though. hopefully Unknown Mortal Orchestra will be another

There's only 2

Two Door would be fairly shit, but I guess its good they get bands of that size to do it.

ah my bad - just remember there being three one year. aye wouldn't have any interest in Two Door at all, but would be nice if the band beforehand was good (although if not, all the better - i can avoid it all together)

So... who do we think the 'Live Bands' will be on Williams Green this Thursday?

I was planning to stick Hinds in for one but as they're playing Sunday, can't see them sticking around that long so guess it will be someone playing Friday or Saturday. Normally it's an act on the cusp of breaking through to the bigger stages but I've drawn a blank at the moment!

I was stood near one of Hinds during FWF on the Sunday last year - and they played Friday - so I wouldn't rule it out!

Moshi Moshi Records posted on Facebook that Nzca Lines, Wesley Gonzalez and Rozi Plain are playing secret sets over the weekend. Could be any of them.

Crow's Nest for all of 'em, probably.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra

They had Thursday down on their dates for the longest so maybe.

Never mind all that shillyshallying around. The actual gorblimey canyoubelieveit wonderful once in a lifetime ROCKINGBIRDS are playing Williams Green on Sunday afternoon.

I'll be the fat bloke down the front, bawling like a bairn.

Actually, that'll probably describe over half the audience (12 men, 2 bored girlfriends and a 3 legged dog)

this is just about 25 years old, still the sound of my fucking life

If it turns out to be Chvrches or Grimes I am going to be super pissed. However, it's usually the current Radio1 indie hype bands..

Also how early do people turn up to get in?? It always looks disgusting whenever I've walked past.

Last year I got there during Drenge and couldn't get inside the tent, but once they finished it was easy to get in for Wolf Alice. Ended up about 5 rows back for them.

They stuck around all weekend after playing on Friday last year and it looks like they'll be doing the same this year so I wouldn't count it out.

My first two guesses before we got day splits were Blossoms and Savages, so with them now both being Friday they're obviously both still looking good bets for it.

If the TDCC info is true that's a bit lame.

Daughter and Hinds also good shouts, and maybe UMO based on them having Thursday down on their tour dates for ages, but they do seem an odd fit for it. It's usually pretty Radio One fodder acts, isn't it? Although I don't listen to Radio One so not sure if they play Savages, Daughter or Hinds at all.

yeah it is usually more Radio One fodder so i'm inclined to go with Two Door Cinema Club and then Blossoms or something similar, rather than something good like UMO or Hinds. in fact has it ever been a non UK based act? UMO must just have the Thursday down as a default day

Yeah Blossoms were always my first pick so at the moment I'll go with them and TDCC.

Oh well, means I can do something else Thursday night. Sad that I won't get to see Savages at all, though, if that's the case.

    • Bit of a rogue one but when Nightwish went on their hiatus a few years ago they didn't rule out doing shows for their 30th anniversary which is next year    Would be a perfect sub for someone like Deftones or even System
    • With 20 euro discount if booked via Revolut too.
    • Yeah, surprisingly no increase from this year
    • its diabolical already 😞 .... The refs should have walked out in solidarity
    • The main problem with these is that noone really predicts the shocks that happen in the early knockouts or quarters, so it inevitably gets to like what I put in the semis (France v Spain and Eng vs Arg). You always end up with 4/6 of the top sides reaching the semis, and this is with me 'predicting' Swiss to beat Portugal.   I think we will see a shock result against a top 5-6 team of an African/Asian side knocking a favourite out, and I can see one of the big guns resting heavily for a 3rd group game and ending up 2nd place in their group, which would throw these whole brackets out of whack.   I think the main interesting thing from the brackets, is that if you're only caring about 'likely' group winners, you have France/Spain/Germany/Belgium/Netherlands (who I'm not convinced top group F, that group seems v exciting to me), all on one side of the bracket. Albeit the other side is England/Brazil/Arg/Portugal, but the European giants do seem weighted towards one half.   'best 3rd place' is very hard to call, I suspect there might be 1 or 2 who get 6 points (tied with 2nd) but are there on goal difference/head to head, while others could be on 3 or even 2 points. I also don't actually know if a bunch of these middle-Eastern teams who I've predicted to finish bottom are that bad. I think the ConCaCaf lot who've qualified partially by virtue of the 3 strongest teams all being hosts probably are 0-1 point teams mostly, but I wonder if there's some near-Asian teams I'm underestimating.   I'm honestly really excited though.
