The new poster is still hosted on the site and viewable: ( it's called 2016poster.png) but it's now been replaced on the actual page by the old one (16lup1200pxwideab.png), so someone fucked up.

2016poster.png

the URL suggests that it was uploaded in March, not April: "/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/2016poster.png"

so it could be an older poster, and D'Angelo cancelled before the lineup was officially released, or he was added after the poster that went up on the site with the announcement. it's possibly that he wasn't fully signed off in time for the official announcement.

why exactly someone would be fiddling with the html code on the page today and change the link/img tag from "16lup1200pxwideab.png" to " 2016poster.png" is a bit of a mystery though.

I was thinking the line-up revealing process was a bit boring this year, this is the shit we need!

Won't beat the 'Tin Stage' that Arcade Fire were playing on in 2014.

His latest album has a 95 on Metacritic.

With this booking and Beck, someone at Glasto has good taste.

I have no doubt his output warrants it. It just doesn't do it for me and would seem a very strange sub headliner. Especially for Adele, who lets face it isn't the most upbeat of artists.

Both images are in the same 2014/03 directory though

Good digging! That's interesting. You might be right that he pulled out before the poster was released.

Still begs the question why he's so high up on that thing though. I think we'd have heard if a sub headliner had pulled out?

The URL suggests the pic added in March 2014, but I think that's wrong, Wordpress dates uploads like that but I think they are just replacing old pics with new ones on the same urls

even though the chance of him clashing with somebody else if he plays is almost guaranteed, would be such a pisser if he doesn't end up playing, although i think he will - i couldn't fathom why or how that poster seemed to get accidentally posted today, but i doubt it was an old poster or anything of the sort. i just don't think he'd be that high up if he was originally on the poster and pulled out. seems far more like he was added that high up so people would notice his addition. now to just wait and see what comes of this

good point, the Leave no Trace banner is 2016: wp-content/uploads/2016/04/pledgeheader.jpg"

but the smaller image on the page is in a 2015 directory: /wp-content/uploads/2015/06/ltfa.jpg

ah yes, that would make sense. i didn't take any notice of the 2014 part originally.

so the page itself is from 2014 and they're just uploading images onto it, which wordpress is adding to the same directory that the originals were all in, ie. "/2014/03/"?

in which case, it could have been uploaded today, or any time really!

Yup, I think they used directory /2014/ last year too, I remember thinking it was odd

Is it my dodgy memory, or was there not talk of one of the WH having cancelled? I'm certain I saw that somewhere

Il be gutted if D'Angelo isn't there now

Yeah but it was from Glasto Chat and the same guy said Adele wasn't headlining as she was asking for too much money.

Most on there were adamant she wouldn't headline though so maybe he did get that WH info and threw the Adele thing in to make it seem like he knew more/to make people believe his shitey opinion.

I reckon in order of probability, either one of the following:

- They've decided to put him on the next poster instead

- He's going to be announced in a separate announcement

- Hell be announced in a separate stage-by-stage announcement

- He was initially on the lineup but dropped out

- He was positioned too high so he was removed from this poster to avoid confusion

if you look at the poster design, the colours go in the order red, blue, hot pink, white, pink, green, yellow. there are a few occasions on the poster where this doesn't happen, like hot pink being skipped in between Beck and ELO, which was amended by D'Angelo being added, and there are a couple of other times when colours are missed out (no hot pink between Fatboy Slim and BMTH. no white between Two Door Cinema Club and Jake Bugg. possibly more) which could suggest acts being slotted in...

...so to summarise, i've finally lost my mind

This is great! We've got some real line up drama!

I did think earlier "what if it's a hack" but wrote it off. But now, what if it was?

If D'Angelo is actually playing, firstly getting over how bizarre him having his own update basically, if this was done by mistake they'd surely just leave it?

So for me it's either 1) he was originally playing, pulled out, and this poster somehow came up this afternoon when someone was fiddling with the page or 2) it's a hack.

I thought you were going to say the ordering of the colours spells out Radiohead.

    • So, what would the weather have been like at this year's festival?   It's been shambolic around here, the rain is soul destroying and showing no sign of letting up, bar odd sporadic days here and there. Disgraceful for June.   What's it like down there? Have we had a lucky escape?...

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
