Overheard in Pilton

"you did put D'Angelo on the poster last week, didn't you?"

"Yeah, course I did..."

"Well, I can't see him......"

"Oh, Sh*t...., I thought you checked it"

*forgets efestivals exists* "Just stick it on there, noone will notice"

That would be hilarious. Can you imagine going for that long without noticing you forgot to add an act to the lineup poster?

Hey, in fairness many of us have complained about the Pyramid being dominated by album sales etc. This would be a pleasant surprise as a Pyramid Sub.

it makes sense for album sales to heavily influence positioning. If people complain, its only cos famous people have more scope to be disliked, cos more people know them.

I heard an interview which 6Music did with Emily at the time of the poster release, and Emily said that most of the acts have been booked for yonks, and in some cases before last year's festival. She also said that it was difficult to decide which names to put on the poster, and which not. I can only assume that he's only just been finalised, or not very happy about not being in the initial line up.

That interview is well worth a listen by the way. She goes on to say there will more line up announcements in April.

Weird that people seem to think it's somebody else's fault they haven't heard of D'Angelo. His last album was hugely critically acclaimed and there was a lot of buzz about his comeback.

Huh? What does that mean? Who has blamed someone else for not knowing D'Angelo?

Must admit, I find it a little hard to believe that people who are (I would assume, seeing as they're attending Glastonbury) into music have never heard of D'Angelo. Very strange.

This is the sort of thing I normally say.... and I have no idea who he/she/is?!

I will have to check it out on this basis. :-)

Ok not so much blaming someone else but there is an air of "what's going on? Why have they announced someone someone high up the lineup that I've never heard of" going on.

    • I f**ked up and bought a car park ticket for sunday, got it delivered to my old address. Will I be able to buy a pass on the gate? Thoughts on muddyness from 0-10?
    • I am as well not a fan of these side by side stages. too many people at the same places and you have always people around you who wait for the other stage...
    • If only they could get the Bits area back (and add maximum 5k capacity) the site would feel less crowded.
    • Blame it on the side-by-side setup. There are cases where it works well - got a great location in front of the middle screen for Bexter Dury-Big Thief-Little Simz, just had to move about 20 meters each time for a great location. But on most cases it sucks
    • was happy to swerve the main stages on Saturday, but thought it was fine for The Cure, we just went down the opposite side & got a decent spot close to the front, everyone into it (admittedly a bit off to the side)   a festival that now books Olivia Rodrigo as a surprise set isn't going to get any smaller, for better or for worse it is miles apart from when I was first going   personally I still find the people amazing, never have any hassle & the line ups are always so strong & diverse.  We will definitely return for the 25th anniversary next year!
