I wonder if Groove Armada and Metronomy would have been announced at the same time as Bjork back in September if it was still the 2020 three?.

Keep thinking of Royksopp with them making a come back would fit in that dance category.

Bloc Party and Spiritualized would seem big enough and fit.

They both had tours to sell, so reckon that was the reason for the delay...

I'm hoping for both as love Metronomy (been asking for them on the questionnaire thingie they do each year, actually asked for Bjork too so double winner!) and never seen Groove Armada 🙂

Mentions four new headliners to be announced

Four? I'm guessing one will be a late night act ala Jon Hopkins, who was also billed as a headliner in 2019. Wonder who it could be though?

Saturday is a "co-headline". Two bands of similar size.

Not playing, unfortunately

Ah, that's a shame. It was the Saturday I was most interested in going to, tbh. Never been to Bluedot before and I find myself in the vicinity that day. A decent lineup will make me part with my money for a day ticket (I assume they have tickets? 😄)

Im guessing the Saturday headliners will be a bit smaller, but would you say the Friday one is "big" (at least for Bluedot standards)?

Friday is a dance act, party sort of vibe.

Saturday - mid sized headliners that compliment each other. A good fit.

Sunday is bjork on a UK exclusive

Guessing friday is Groove Armada again then.

A friend suggested Grimes (DJ set) for this. I'd never thought of it before but definitely makes sense; she loves space and all that

Justice if its not Groove Armada? Nothing to think it won't be GA though.

Sat any 2 from

Elbow/Suede/James/Massive Attack/Primal Scream?

Massive Attack would be amazing and definitely a biggie.

James & Primal Scream both playing Castlefield Bowl in July - might rule them out.

What about Metronomy and Mogwai for the coheadliners? Metronomy don't seem that big anymore but maybe they were given first refusal on headlining, and then Bluedot decided to add Mogwai to pad it out a bit, which is supported by

Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai retweeted the tweet about the announcement, so I guess they’re very likely to be playing.

Saw Heavenly Records liked one of their tweets so I'm guessing we'll have some acts from that label. Then it made me think... What about Doves? I know they cancelled their tour but they're from Manchester and maybe they'd be up for doing a one-off

Their cancellation announcement made it sound like they won’t be playing again for quite a while, if ever.

Dont they? Metronomy is more "pop"/accessible, whereas Mogwai is one for the musos. That way everyone is happy

Mmm but that’s not particularly complementary in terms of headliners, where you’d expect them to be of a similar sound. Certainly not a ‘good fit’ anyway.
