Ok as my Trout has gone (not my conscious doing) and the Fish thing has run it's course (see what I did there) I thought I'd post the translation in the form of a PM I sent to Sindig0

Hi Sindig0, Do fancy having a bit of fun on the forum with bike stuff? We simply use a code and see how long they take to twig what we are talking about. So

Koi = Kawasaki

Fish = Bike

Fishing = Bike Ride

Magazine = Workshop Manual

Caught = Ride

Hook = Bought

Descaling = maintenance

Waves = corners or bends

Flat = Straight

Trout = Triumph

Skate = Suzuki

Haddock = Honda

Yellow Bass = Yamaha

Mackerel = Moto Guzzi

Dab = Ducati

Bass = BMW

Knifefish = KTM

Halibut = Harley Davidson

Should do for starters :-)

Cheers

SC

Mornings all :):)

S.C. & Sindog0; you had me hook line and sinker!- as you'll have been able to tell! - I just wondered how we hadn't heard of S.C.'s love of fishing before, and thought that he likes to be observed ... could be a thing....listened to Brain Tingles the other day, a prog about ASMR which I'd never heard of, but may possibly account for the enjoyment of being observed.....who knows! :):)

Sorry reading from yesterday. The Terms and Conditions make no mention of eFestivals' zero tolerance policy on the use of ad blockers on devices used to access the forum, irrespective of whether personal or shared devices.

On a more cheery note, we have heard from Jambo - look what she's made!

"Well here's the piece s mornings workshop..the design is mine and so are a few of the misshapen holes..they helped. A lot. Design far too delicate for a beginner.loved the design bit..just need an army of workers!

Then another massage, relax and supper ..such a hard life!
Love to you all."

I think that would make a lovely avatar for her :):)

A bright, cold, frosty morning here; the sun shining pink and birds song in the air. :):)

Happy Tuesdays everyone :):)

Morning all. I'll have a soya latte please and Oscar would like a bonio. :)

I can't see your photo of Jambo's jewellery here, but I saw it on FB and agree that it's beautiful and such a good first effort. :)

It is a frosty, bright start to the day here. Oscar and I will go for a walk later. :)

Happy Tuesday all. :)

Mornings all,

I wondered how long you'd keep them going for SC--you lasted longer than me! I ran out of bike chat. That said, my BIL has sold me on a Yamaha YBR125 I think. He said that I'm never going to feel like the original American badass on a 125, even if it's cruiser shaped so I should learn to ride on something safe and cheap and postpone the dream, along with the full back Harley Davidson tattoo (kidding) until I can ride one properly. Over a year 'til I'm 40. There's time. :mosking:

SS - The image isn't working for me either. Maybe try a different way of attaching it? I'd love to see it.

Mod's attitude to adblockers is fair enough--websites of this size are expensive to run but, as you say people sometimes don't know they're running the software. I installed it on my wife's machine so she could read her mummy blogs uninterrupted. Some of them are impossible without an adblocker, especially on mobile.

Thankfully, the ads on this site are pretty unobtrusive. Don't forget to give them the occasional click everyone. And if you want to buy something or use the service provided by the ad, consider coming here first and clicking-through. That doesn't work so well for me as because my I'm logged in to Google at work I get a weird selection of ads--everything from new trainers and Justin Bieber albums through wedding fayres and baby gear to saga holidays and funeral plans. :)

It's a big problem for my clients too. We saw our revenue and CTR (click through rate) from display ads (for this is what they're called) drop between 10 and 20% monthly during 2014-2015. Many brands are dropping them altogether in favour of other channels. This is partly down to adblocker use, partly down to consumer behaviour. Though, oddly there was a weird spike in CTR right after Christmas 2014. Why? Everyone gave their mum and dad tablets for Christmas that year and for a while, while they were learning to scroll using a tablet, they were clicking on a huge amount of ads. Then their kids installed adblocker on everything and the decline returned.

But I digress...

Bright and cold morning full of pink, fluffy clouds giving way to glorious sunshine. Coffees all round between meetings this morning. :)

I presume BIL is Brother in Law? Anyway it sounds as though he is giving you very sound advice, he is right, also as you learn to ride you may discover other joys that you don't currently expect to find and modify your dreams accordingly.  Buying a "specialist" bike (Sports, Cruiser, Tourer etc) are each very good at their own speciality but not great at other uses.  So a good quality "all rounder" is far far better to learn on and then you can specialise if you wish or you may choose to go simply for a bigger "all rounder" if you wish, that's the route I took, I wanted a bike that I can nip down the shops, good in traffic and filtering, can be loaded up with luggage, long enough legs to take you comfortably across a continent, loves mountain passes, can manage a bit of rough terrain, or happily scratch around country lanes :-)

You've got loads of time and you have the advantage at your age to realise that you are not invincible.  Ride safe and don't try to catch your reflection in shop windows........  you never look as cool as you feel.....  :D

1) Yes, sorry Brother-In-Law is right. He's been riding for years. He has some kind of monster sports bike (it's a green one, I can't be more specific than that), does track days, etc. He's at least as excited about me getting a bike as I am. Probably more so. he gave em an unprecedented bear hug when I told him I was thinking about getting a bike at Christmas.  :)

2) Have you been talking to my wife? :D

BTW, your links are broken too. Is it just me having the problem viewing links?

SS, beautiful work from Jambo. Thanks for keeping us updated.
