Did anyone try from Overseas?

I definitely haven't got any kind of priority buying from abroad for the last few years, VPN or no VPN.

On the topic of having people in other countries buy for you, one thing to be wary of is the credit or debit card being declined because it's being used from a foreign location. So if you give someone abroad (or back at home) your card details to use, unless you let the bank know that a transaction might be coming in from some foreign land, it has the potential to get declined.

I speak from experience...my dad in the UK got through for me in the resale 2 years ago and the transaction was declined because he was using my US card in the UK. Totally ruined my chances because then it was blocked and I couldn't use it if I got through.

Friend of mine who lives in Berlin is trying every year to book our tickets, last time she's been successful was 2005. Tried coach sales on Thursday, but never even saw a booking screen. So based on our anecdotal experience, being abroad doesn't improve chances.

  • 4 years later...

I was in Italy in April this year during the resale and had no luck getting through.

Last Sunday we had about 6 batches of 6 to get through and we had people trying from all over - some utilising multiple VPNs so that they could try queueing from a foreign ISP... but of the 3 successful batches purchased, they were all bought from UK based ISPs (with no fancy tricks - just refresh refresh refresh!)

We go again in April, of course, for the remaining batches. Generally we tend to have reasonable success in the resale too - it's a numbers game, I think - get as many people as you know to try for you... on as many of the available days as possible (coach day / ticket day / coach resale day / resale day / "secret" resale day :secret:)

Best of luck to those still wanting tickets - don't give up hope!

Opened the VPN app MrsP uses to watch Corrie by the pool and bam...in straight away to queue...refreshed a couple of times and got reg number page up...numbers in, regs recognised, chose bus, through to payment no delay or anything.

Thought it might be a fluke so closed it all down and tried again...straight through again...and again...

Just FYI -- if she's using a VPN to watch UK TV, then the internet connection that Seetickets saw you trying to get tickets on was in the UK.
