So, End of the Road tweeted and put on Facebook a link to the new LCD Soundystem -  'Christmas Will Break Your Heart.' Is it too optimistic to hope that is a very blatant coup for one of their headliners? Would be an absolutley massive coup considering it looks as if they are headlining Coachella and Primavera if this reunion malarkey comes about. Couldn't think of a better sub for them than John Grant either.

not impossible, but i'd say unlikely considering (especially with it being a reunion) how much bigger they are than previous headliners. no other previous headliners could've headlined Coachella, that's for sure. think Sigur Ros come closest to matching their size

John Grant is very much EOTR Woods Stage headliner size now as well. Can't see him subbing anyone now.

That's what I would have thought until I saw he wasn't headlining Field Day. Second from top there would put him the same size as previous subs Django Django, Patti Smith and The Horrors. I do agree headlining is not out the question. Would make a lot of sense.

I sadly agree no matter how much I would love it. Then again, I was always under the impression LCD Soundsystem were notably bigger in the states? Could easily see past Coachella headliners - which are smaller in the UK - such as Phoenix comfortably headlining EotR. Even so, if they are being mooted as Glastonbury Other Stage headliners, I'd say that places them in the same bracket as the Flaming Lips and Sigur Ros? Maybe. Almost definitely clutching at straws here.

I don't think they'll play given there will be more money and exposure on offer at the rumoured Glastonbury and two London gigs but I reckon Sigur Ros are still a bigger deal over here than LCD Soundsystem.

True enough, but there's also a demographic question. Probably not "hipster" enough to headline Field Day, more suited to headlining for an EOTR crowd? Also PJ Harvey being something more of a coup, would mean she could be nothing other than headliner? I dunno. I just think playing Hammersmith pushed him into that headliner category.

With regards to LCD, do not read too much into EOTR sharing their Christmas song. Pretty much everyone with any connection or interest in music shared that song. I really can't see them playing, but would love to be proved wrong.

Thinking of bands with something to promote, Animal Collective have a new album out soon. Deerhunter have a new album out. Would love to see Battles and PJ Harvey too.

Oh, and Radiohead have a new album out soon too...

animal collective , deerhunter. yes please. i have always thought battles would be perfect for eotr.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Slowdive yet as a headliner. They'd be absolutely glorious on the Woods stage. Or maybe Minor Victories (the Slowdive/Mogwai/Editors supergroup that have an album coming out in 2016).

Other's I'd love: The Twilight Sad, Ezra Furman, Merucry Rev, Deerhunter, Dilly Dally, The National

Just seen Tortoise have a new album coming out. They would be amazing to see.

hello. does Primavera Sound announcement change the dynamic?

really cannot think of anywhere better to see Polly than EOTR.

I don't Primavera tells us anything other than certain bands/artists are playing live this year that we might have forgotten about. I'll be very surprised if Peej plays anywhere other than Field Day in the UK. Reckon that's probably an exclusive.

    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
