Found something out about the webcam, which is useful/nice.

The main live image is made up of 9 images stitched together (last image is just a slither).
You can grab the separate parts of the image from the archive (not live though unfortunately that I can tell). Which means better quality images from the archive.

For example from 2019:

09-00-00_full_2_0.jpg

You need to replace _default.jpg at the end of the URL with _full_0_0.jpg etc

Shame the don't store the complete images or split for the live version.

As it happens I noticed the same thing today, although those very high resolution images don't seem to be available for every snapshot in the past.

I started tinkering around with some simple Javascript to lookup and retrieve the highest resolution image available from the archive for any date/time, including stitching these high resolution parts together if they're available. I might have something to share tomorrow.

@hfuhruhurrhas made something so you can look up previous dates, so maybe this come be combined.

Here it is: https://www.freeyourfeeds.com/glastocam.php

Panomax also has an API (not documented from what I can see) with lists if dates of images that I was looking at earlier today (don't have the links on my mobile).

Haha, that's scarily similar to what I knocked up earlier today!

No idea how to merge the high res images in PHP, but I've got it working in Javascript by downloading them all, putting them side-by-side in a canvas element, and then pulling out the whole thing as a single jpeg. I'll tidy it up a bit and share it tomorrow 👍

The Panomax API might be useful, if only to quickly check whether a chosen date/time is valid. The camera doesn't capture images overnight, but the start and end times for each day vary throughout the year. Not sure if it's based on sunrise/sunset times, or ambient light levels, or something else, but right now I can't see a reliable way of only allowing valid dates/times to be chosen.

0930 Three or four vehicles in the William's Green area, around about the Bandstand's location.

Cherry picker in operation by the new bunkabins, plus the door to one of them is open.

Portaloo now on site to the left of the Pyramid.

Im just concerned about all the extra hills they have built over to the right hand side of the image 🙂

Assume something has gone wrong with the stitching togther of the pictures but i think id feel a bit sea sick walking around John Peel, and Silve rHayes if they dont iron the fields 🙂

Is that some kind of new signage towards the top of the Park field, on the Pennards side?

I wonder when we can expect the pier to start being built? That must be one of the earliest projects to start.

It won't be the stitching together - I mentioned a few days ago that the camera is basically on top of a pole coming out of a box in the corner of the farm yard - if the camera is caught by the wind when it's taking the shot, you can get a wavy effect.

If you mean this, it was put up in 2019 and seems to have remained since then.

In 2019, the first glimpse of stuff being dropped off for the pier was 09:40 on 7th May. They did setup the longdrops in that area before then though, but I can't see anything pier related before then. Based on the fact they nearly didn't finish everything in 2019, I'd expect them to start earlier than that this year.

From what I can see, the Greenpeace area is one of the first to start the setup, in 2019 there were things in their field from 16th April.

Was about to make that comment myself. Thousands  of three year old  turds marinated in gallons and gallons of well matured urine doesn’t bear thinking about.

Nothing compared to the thick perfume rising from the fields this week following the pumping of cow juice on them. Those fields don’t get that lush green colour from rain alone.

What do we think all those things are being dropped off in the Pyramid field? Too early for generators?

Not sure, but to my eyes they don't really look like generators.

My best guess is Elsan points? But I'm a long way from confident on that and could be wrong.

Here's my Javascript tool for retrieving webcam images, including stitching together the super high resolution images if they're available:

https://www.tievolu.co.uk/glasto/GlastoWebcamTool.html

Choose your date/time then click the image to download the highest resolution available in a new window. If the super high resolution image parts don't exist, or can't be downloaded for some reason, it downloads the "default" resolution instead.

Note: I can't be bothered to make it look nicer 😀

(I've had to use an open CORS proxy because the server responses for the older high resolution part images don't have the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header set. This seems to be an oversight, because recent snapshots have Access-Control-Allow-Origin set to allow all origins, as do the redirect URLs for the old images - but the response when retrieving the final URL does not. The CORS proxy is a bit of a fudge, and it's limited to 5 requests per second so it might not work properly sometimes.)
