It might even be easier for GF to transfer it if you've already found a taker for it - could you see if you could try for one of the very loyal peeps on here? (Not myself, but there's a small number who've been on every day and would sell their grannies, or indeed anyone's granny, for the chance to be on the farm in 2 weeks, if this could work)

Has anyone had any luck with this sort of thing this close to the festival before? I'm gutted I can't make it, and would love to give it to someone here who would appreciate it.

I've no experiences with it. But surely they wouldn't let a ticket go to waste? There must be handful of people who can't go at the last minute. (When I say 'they' I mean Glastonbury/seetickets. Or aren't they bothered about these sorts of situations?)

Like August1 says, there's no way anybody is going to officially transfer that ticket. This gets asked every year and both the festival and Seetickets have always been 100% clear and categorical- you can not transfer a ticket to anyone else.

People have had luck in the past using someone else's ticket, perhaps even most people, but there are signs that they may tighten up this year. Even the council noted the number of people turning up who didn't look like the ticket last year.

That's such a shame. I appreciate what they're trying to do but I really wish there was a way round it so someone could actually use the ticket.

You could always try pleading with the Glastonbury team. Sometimes things do happen :)

What does the person look like on the photo of the ticket? Male/femail how old etc. Few of my mates would probably be interested in buying if it looked remotely like them. A few of us go in on other peoples tickets every year and never been knocked back (touch wood)

They are being much hotter on stuff like this this year. They're asking for ID for crew tickets which I believe they haven't done in the past

Asking for ID off 180,000 people upon entry would take forever so I don't really believe that. Crew tickets maybe as there is a lot less people and no rush to get in before the festival, but ID'ing every standard ticket holder would be chaos

I've had my ID checked both for standard ticket and hospitality in the past.

I have too. I've been questioned about the picture on my ticket as I've now got different hair colour to the picture on it. Found my old 2015 ticket earlier. If only I could recycle that again haha!

Come to think of it, a mate who went in on someone elses ticket 2 years ago got asked for ID and obviously said he didn't have any (it looked nothing like him) the person on the gate sent him to an office where he had to answer questions about the address on the ticket etc. it was a close friend of his so answered them correctly, so they couldn't exactly deny him entry. Has anyone ever heard of anyone being knocked back? We travel from the north east so it would be a very long jouney back home!

I've seen posts on forums of people saying they had seen the occasional turn away when they couldn't produce ID. It's such a risky way of getting in if you've had to travel. It's just the luck of who you get on the gate. I personally wouldn't risk it as I know my luck!

Exactly.

When the council mentioned the number of people who didn't look like the photo they weren't thinking about the anti-touting measures. That's a Glastonbury thing and the council don't really give a rat's arse about that. They were concerned that it was holding up the queues too much, and recommended the festival take steps to ensure peoples' photos matched.

I know this isn't allowed really but I know of people who've used the tickets of people who look like them - it usually works because the staff at the gate are just volunteers who aren't overly bothered and just have a quick look. Risky of course

My ticket has been dispatched now, so I think it's highly unlikely I'll be able to return it. Thanks for all the advice folks.

This may be against the rules but if anyone is interested in taking the chance then message me.

Is it a male or female ticket? Just because people would want to know :)

Someone in one of the threads shared a photo of a bunch of people gathered together in an area who had been denied entry one year (twenty or thirtry of them I think?) there's also a thread where someone pasted the section from this years meeting which included an explicit section about some folks having very old photos and therefore no longer looking like them.  The latter may explain the encouragement for some folks to refresh their registration?

Persumably though if someone is denied entry, they can go off and try again at another gate further around the festival until someone lets them in? It's not like they're going to be impounded for not looking like their ticket, is it?

(Not that I condone people trying to get in on someone else's ticket of course!)

Here you go, couple of posts near the bottom, at least one of which talks about the ticket being confiscated, but yes have read other posts on here of folk being successful.

I posted both of those.

The picture of the people denied entry were all people who'd bought fake tickets, but the council did note the number of people who didn't look like their ticket. The concern was this was holding things at the gates up too much, which is why There may be different arrangements this year. The council observers also didn't manage to team up with security as much as they wanted and recommended improving on that this year, which is another reason they maybe hotter on processing people at the gates. They witnessed two people who were "processed and evicted" and although the reasons aren't mentioned in the context of the discussion of what was happening on the gates it's probably reasonable to assume it was due to problems with their ticket. The report covering taxis also mentioned evicted people being escorted to a taxi rank in Steanbow.

On the other hand at Gate B they noted a "steady stream" of people being directed to the ticket tent for not looking like their ticket. No mention of eviction at this point. So I guess someone could always get lost between the gate and ticket tent.

Whichever way you look at it, it's not going to be risk free using someone else's ticket.
