I just bought some Ecco Biom Hike mid boots - used a pair a few years ago, really comfy straight out of the box. Pricey but thoroughly recommended.

I find most shoes and boots too hot for summer daytime wear.

v expensive mind, ive got some saloman walking shoes , cost a bomb but they are brilliant, comfy and not too hot or cold

Hi-Tec magnum desert boots are very good in hot climates, wear good wicking socks to help. Any military type desert boot should do it, Belleville are good as are Meindl. I have had all three and the hi-tec are lightest, like a long trainer really, but do the job nicely.

but they also keep your feet too hot.

I had some lovely timberlands about 15 years ago which were fantastic - waterproof, comfy, and cool - but they don't make the same style now and everything else I've tried cooks my feet in a hot summer.

I've never found that. i did have a pair of merrell sandal things, but always seem to hafta stop and clear gravel out from the soles of my feet. cant ever really recall my feet getting too hot in them, even in 2010
