smogo
I can't believe no one's mentioned Daft Punk yet. And Nile Rodgers might have put in a good word....
Bisque
A live set from Basement Jaxx would be great.
eFestivals
didnt neil once say that a week before a festival which had tried and failed to book prince he said he would do it. Maybe that was bestival?nah, it was one of the euro fests (I forget which one now).

Are Daft Punk playing live this year then? I think everyone has just given up hope of any proper live tour for now.
eastynh
If they managed to get Depeche Mode to play then I would go. I can't see it though as for some strange and ridiculous reason, I can't remember Depeche Mode ever playing a UK festival. Getting Depeche Mode to play would be some statement of intent. dentalplan
Depeche Mode are highly unlikely to play a gig full stop, are they not? Yeah their routine of recording, releasing, touring and getting sick of each other seems pretty tight so their next album's likely to be 2017. I wonder if they'll get offered all the huge slots they pulled out of.
eastynh
they did Wireless. It didn't sell out. I got tickets for free for that, it may have been some o2 promotion or something. I was unable to go in the end but I still have the ticket upstairs somewhere.

I don't understand why they turn down UK festivals yet headline all the other big European ones. It is as if they are scared of playing at home unless if it is in front of their die hard fans. There is a part of me that is hoping they will be the rabbit out of the hat in regards to Glasto. But unfortunately I do not think they will ever get offered headline slots at the major UK festivals again and they only have themselves to blame. FloorFiller
i don't think Frank Ocean will headline (the main stage or the Thursday) - think he'll be high up (even maybe sub), but he's not big enough to headline the festival itself but is probably too big for the Thursday slot - he'll be one of the main draws. i doubt they'll want to stick him in a tent on a Thursday. I wouldn't say he's currently bigger than M.I.A or Beck & they headlined the Thursday. Granted the the tent was rammed, but still.

Granted the the tent was rammed, but still. with a new album out i'd say he'd be much bigger than both of those. would be a waste to stick him in a tent when he could easily sub the main for much more people to see
dentalplan
I think he could headline Saturday night if they're willing to take a punt on his album being as big as it will be. If they're having a hip hop act headline again then they won't realistically find much bigger.
DomDom1984
I could buy Frank Ocean. Played third from the top at T in 2013 and could conceivably get bigger off the hype from the last album.

I'd rather he didn't do the Thursday night, because M.I.A was a nightmare. But it wouldn't surprise me if he did.
Tuna
The Thursday night tent is always rammed tho. Doesn't matter who you put in, there's not that much going on especially not live music. Feel like Frank would be a waste but I felt the same about Hot Chip and Beck and enjoyed those, so... True to a point, Beck wasn't anywhere near as rammed as M.I.A though thankfully. I had room towards the back to dance around like an idiot to Beck, where as at M.I.A people were penned in like battery hens.
dentalplan
I haven't been but it's always struck me that they should put these special party things like Fatboy Slim and Chic & Nile Rodgers on the Big Top on Thursday nights instead of taking a slot when there's a ton of live music on. Or is that not viable? Edited January 30, 2015 by dentalplan
smogo
dentalplan - Both the headliners you mention had fucking enormous crowds at the main stage. No way should they have been confined to the Big Top. And besides, they try to schedule things so that there are no other major acts on at the same time as the main stage headliners. dentalplan
Fair enough. I was just going off the groaning that they usually receive when they're announced but I appreciate that it's different at the festival.
