Sweet, cheers. Wanna see Portishead, so I'm exploring all options. Weekend ticket/day ticket/volunteering. If I volunteer and then end up working through Portishead's set I might just kill Melvin or something.

If you volunteer through hotbox you get a semi-selection of shifts, ranking the (19?) different patterns in order of preference, so you can have a very strong chance of not missing a particular act.

Although if any band you really want to see is playing ~ 3-4.30 you've got a 2/3rds chance of missing them due to the overlapping nature of shifts.

D'you know what it's like with Oxfam? A friend of mine has "registered interest" with them in the hope of volunteering at several fests with them, so I joined them in doing that. Doubt she knows what a Portishead is, though.

You don't get to choose your own shifts, you don't even get told of them before you get on site - but once you are on site, you're free to swap the pattern you've been given with someone on a different one right up until the start of your first shift.

Although it'd probably be fairly important, in the case of Latitude, to be aware that last season all of Oxfam's places at this particular festival went to stewards who'd worked with Oxfam before - they get a two week 'priority window' before newbies are allowed to sign up for anything, if you follow.

Hope that helps :)

Ahh really? That's a bit annoying, wouldn't wanna travel down there find out the only headliners I can see are alt-J and Noel Gallagher. Might look at Hotbox instead and just tell my friend about that.

Fair enough, sounds like it'll be best for me to look at other companies then.

Yeah that helps, cheers :)

Just been looking at the Tour dates of the previous headliners and two of them have very large Latitude sized gaps in their July schedule. Damien Rice and Interpol.
Damien is playing in Ireland on the 16th and France on The 20th giving him a clear route to latitude, so i think its pretty dead on hes playing, headlining? im not so sure. whilst Pols is a little more tricky, theyre in Canada on the 15th and then in the States on the 20th so they're quite unlikely i would say.

There's not that many spots for Interpol to play though in the UK left though.

I'm doing all the Interpol dates on that US-Canada tour- I could've sworn that they would be doing Pitchfork festival but they aren't. Portland ME is right on the North East coast, so they could finish up in Toronto on the Wednesday evening, in theory play Latitude on the Friday, and be back in Portland on the Monday. It's not ideal and they'll be knackered, but I've seen bands have a lot stupider touring schedule.

Having followed the Interpol tour for the best part of a decade now, it seems very unusual for them to take five days off mid run.
