shame , but you never know they might pop up

Hopefully. The following are signed to the same management agency: Dub Pistols, Freestylers, Nick Hollywood, Plump DJs, & Shades of Rhythm, which I hope is a sign that they will be there too.

find it hard to fault him TBH.

it explains why plenty of DJs play several sets over the weekend (and why many more high profile ones that play other festivals just give it a miss completely). I wouldn't be surprised if many felt this way but were reluctant to speak out.

fair play to Greg for explaining the process and his reasons for not doing it.

Interesting blog post from Greg Wilson on why he's not there this year (basically, the pay is peanuts and getting worse each year):

Yes. Interesting read. Funnily enough had come onto the forums to paste the same link

Thing is, if Glastonbury paid more, all that would happen is that entertainment would be cut. It's not like they could afford to have even half the stuff they do with full fees.

And it wouldn't be the big acts that were cut, it would be the acts like....? Greg Wilson.

So ultimately Greg has to suck it up or lose out. He's decided to lose out, fair enough.

Although actually, as he admits ... nobody wanted him anyway.

i wouldn't have an issue with them paying more and cutting stuff TBH.

there's an awful lot of of guff IMO, and lots of the same names over and over again.

it's why the dance music/DJs at Glastonbury are really an afterthought and added bonus for me. for quality electronic acts, I would/do go to Dekmantel, Sonar, Unsound, Awakenings etc.

Or they could stop adding new areas every year. The Spike, Spaceport, expanded Strummerville, The Wood. All great places I'm sure, but at the cost of spreading the money ever more thinly. There's a lot of talk of the neighbours trying to extract more and more money out of the festival to breaking point - I fear that that's exactly what the festival is doing to the smaller artists.

Of course they can't put on Glastonbury Festival without paying below the market rate, but it sounds like they're increasingly relying on their ability to get cut price performers in a potentially unsustainable way. My fear is it could lead to bad blood between the festival and the performers, jeopardising the privileged position to pay that lower rate in the first place.

To reiterate, the principal of paying less because it's special I'm fine with, I just worry that they're trying to push things too far if fees keep going down every year as more and more keeps being added to the festival.

This is one of the best things Glastonbury does in my opinion. Keeps things fresh and new stuff for people to explore. The spoke being one of my favourite additions in last few years.

That's true, but they keep hanging onto the old stuff. I don't mind reinvention, I agree all the new stuff is ace and keeps it fresh, but is it sustainable to keep expanding the number of performances? Not if it's an the expense of quality performers.

Spike is great, I admit :D

Hi guys, I will be going Glastonbury for the first time this year and I am a bit worried that I will miss some acts due to long walking distance between stages and queues...

Those who already been Glastonbury could you please advise me on how much time should I give myself for walking to the stage and waiting in queue...

For example how long does it take to walk from GLADE to LOVEBULLETS HQ? Or ARCADIA to NYC DOWNLOW?

Figuring out what I wanna see was like a mission to Mars...but it's finally done, can't wait!

If anyone could have a look at the stages I am planning to go and give me an estimate time for walking between stages / queuing that would be much appreciated... :)

Bloody hell that is one serious dose of techno. Would you not be better exploring other music and genres too. All a bit same same, there's so much more diversity out there. Im a Dnb fan but even I don't just listen to that genre, it's nice to listen to something different but each to their own I guess

LBHQ is about as far south east as you can go, so walking from there to anywhere outwith the SE corner is going to take time, I'd say about 25 mins to Glade and 30 to Arcadia, would be worse after midnight though and depending on traffic and mud. Don't try and see absolutely everything, you'll end up missing some special moments(that's my advice)

Also, I'm particularly fucking excited now :)

30mins to 1 hour - wow, guess will have to sacrifice some of the acts otherwise will end up spending more time walking between stages than dancing :D

I got whole Sunday morning and afternoon to explore different stuff plus I got Coldplay on the list so that's enough diversity for the weekend for me :D Even tho by the looks of it gonna have to leave them early...under no circumstances I can miss DJ Deeon...
