Decided to give Lost Village a go. Liking the lineup so far and the bank holiday weekend makes it easier to plan ahead while I'm between jobs.

yup looks very good

Field Day looks absolutely outstanding

The sound couldn't be anymore opposite than outstanding mind you, but I'm still tempted, cause the tents arent so bad, and most of the electronica will be in them

put them in that Wow tent on the thursday

So you don't want to see them? Surely them playing on a night when you're more likely to get in the tent is better?

Incidentally I think there should be more live sets so I'm putting out the annual call for Ansome and/or Karenn.

Thursday night WOW was a bloody shambles last year, I went up to see how JeSUS was looking, all I could see was a deep of bodies outside the tent unable to get in, came back later on, and it was worse

I think trying to see any scheduled acts, especially fairly big names like that, on the Thursday is madness.

I remember pretty much walking into J.E.S.U.S???

It's never pushy in there... just crowded.

You must have been in before them or certainly before me, I went just about 11 and couldn't get near it, then tried again at what I can only estimate was around 2, and it was mobbed again

Yeh we tried to see JESUS at WOW on the Thursday and there was no way we were getting inside the tent

Got a nice spot near the front for both Beans on Toast on Hell and Akala in the Rum Shack thank you very much.

I had a half decent spot for Mik Artistik in the Rocket Lounge or wherever it was he played too, but I'm still not convinced Thursday acts are the way to go.

As for Block 9, I was going to see DJ Pierre but changed my mind so I want to say there was a horrendous queue. Could be making that up but there have been times I've queued for the Downlow only to find it half empty inside. I went and did some skeleton bride worshipping in Copperdoller anyway.

It was really odd, we got there for DJ Pierre, they did a drag show for about half an hour while they played loads of really camp music, all the time announcing that it was DJ Pierre, then there was about 20 minutes of music that I would expect to hear in a Pierre set, then there was loads more dreadful disco stuff which was mixed as poorly as I have ever heard mixing - left after about 45 minutes

I have a very short, I think reasonable wish list from that of; Richie Hawtin, Riccardo Villalobos and Kölsch. Any one of them and I'd be absolutely delighted

There was a small crossover of just a few names last year, so there is hope of some bangers yet

Will this mean a lot of them are ruled out? There are a fair amount on there that would be fantastic.

Also, I saw Richie Hawtin in the Sonic a few years ago. He was so pants I stood out in the rain waiting for Klock & Dettmann to come on next door.

I've only ever seen him once in The Arches in Glasgow and it was absolutely decent, maybe he's not the world best festival act

Klock and Dettmann would also be absolutely more than welcome if they fancy the trip

    • An actual sea of tents
    • Yep, honestly this seems like the most likely option right now.
    • Agree. Also there was a lot more crossing over between stages. I know they need to put the cure, the xx and Gorillaz on the main stages but if they could have put your Blood Orange, Big Thief, Baxter Dury on Cupra and Occident with Jade and Pinkpantheress on the main stages, it would have been a massive improvement.
    • 100% THIS! I haven't quite been able to put my finger on it, but I think you've just nailed why I didn't enjoy this year as much as usual. In last years edition, the likes of Slowdive or Big Thief would have had evening slots at Cupra or Occident, instead of being shoved on to the main stages during the day. Apart from the very biggest acts (ie The Cure, the pop headliners), most performances at Mordor just lack that special "wow, I'm so lucky to be here" feeling that I remember from the Jesus Lizard and Anhoni sets that you've mentioned.  Sidenote: I wonder if there's a decent chunk of ticket holders that gravitate towards Mordor simply because it's the biggest stage, without really caring who's playing at that time, thus the increased (and incredibly noticeable) yapping.
