Secret 'Arena' Band

And Glassjaw the year before that.

Who were disappointing for all different reasons....

Glassjaw were different, they weren't a surprise or secret set, they were just billed as 'special guests', which as everyone should know means fuck all. They were announced months before the festival as well.

In fact I don't even think you can count Dry The River as the same type of surprise/secret set as the likes of Green Day and TCV.

How is it not an Arena haha?! It con be converted into anything, has standing and seated and has a pretty frickin big capacity. The fact it's not purpose built is irrelevant

I've been to casino that's been to converted to a gig before but it doesn't make it arena.

The Alley Palley (I fucking hate that venue!) has a capacity that is bigger than academies but smaller than arenas so you can argue it either way but I wouldn't say playing just there would make someone an arena act.

When they announce the stage times (should be soon!?) will the secret set actually be scheduled (perhaps as a pseudonym along the lines of the Foo's playing under "606" at V a few years back) or is it completely unlisted?

Probably unlisted, neither TCV or Green Day were.

For TCV there was a massive gap in the finishing time of the band before them and the starting time of the band after them, so it was obvious that something was going to be slotted in.

For Green Day Post War Glamour Girls were scheduled to start at 12 and then the following band (PureLove?) at 1.15 or 1.25, so everyone thought that there would be no way that the competiton winners would get an hour and therefore they'd get a short (20/30 minute) set and then Green Day would get a short set afterwards, but it was announced on the NME stage screens the night before that Green Day (or 'the secret you've all been waiting for') would be playing at 11. Not sure what transpired regarding Post War Glamour Girls' set length but I don't think they started at 12.

Yeaaa see your point. I quite liked it, only been to one gig there but was cool!

Anyway, its just me trying to give myself more reasons as to why its Jamie-T..

ALBEIT: Ally Pally Capacity 7,300

Brighton Centre Capacitiy (Arena right?) 4,500

stop obsessing over the technicalities - they're less important than you're making them out to be.

Spot on - Green Day were on for just over an hour, so were finished around 12.10 giving PWGG the normal set time for the first band on the NME stage before Pure Love.

Its sounds like this years secret set will be more along the lines of Green Day or TCV than Dry The River last year - they were announced as a late 'special guest' a few days before the festival and added to the line up on the website, lanyard etc. Unless there is a formal annoucement this year this wont happen, but hopefully it will be obvious from the set times when the secret set is.

What about Korn? Just seen in Spotify they are on tour at Leeds Festival yet they are not on the lineup!

Can someone else confirm this?

Spotify can be edited by users, it's very far from official.

Korn have already been talked about in the thread previously, it's past the talk of Miley Cyrus and the Church Of Satan.
