This is the last specific day that logic can be applied to an announcement really, isn't it. There are good reasons for it being today, in relation to the ticket balance window. If it's not today, it might as well be any day in April - there's no better reason to announce it tomorrow than there is to announce it on 10th, or 14th, or 23rd or any other date. The only other logic would be to announce names prior to the resale.

EDIT: I suppose there's also logic in it being announced tomorrow, once the balance payment window has closed.

I always think its usually 7pm or 8pm too. No idea why!

Gives radio 1 an exclusive and a chance to play the more adult orientated music. Also it means the papers (especially the guardian) get a chance to run it before it's all over tv

no chance was Snoop 100k, look at the opening frame from the BBC highlights of his set.. field's half empty!

Thanks for posting that. That was prob the most fun I've ever had at the pyramid stage. It was absolutely boiling and a few people around us were armed with super soakers. For once, I was happy to get absolutely soaked at Glasto.

If they were concerned about how the sales were going and were planning to use the line up as a push, then I'm sure they would have done it by now.

yep, ticket payments must be going smoothly as ever. wouldn't surprise me if this is how they do it in future years now - if people are willing to pay up beforehand, then why not always do it this way? now just to see if they're daring enough to hold out until after the resale (which i don't see happening - but then i didn't see it getting this far either)

I swear the lineup with TBC came out during balances last year, it's not impossible that they'd release it without the intention of boosting sales.

I'm of the impression now that I'll get it when I get it, I've had too many palpitations and episodes because of this lineup already

Can someone please explain why most people appear to think the line-up will drop at a nice neat time like 8am, 7pm, midday etc?

Why not at 9.42am or 1.16pm or 8.32pm? Has it always previously dropped bang on the hour?

The only good thing about Kylie playing is she would undoubtedly invite Nick cave along to try and give herself a tiny shred of credibility

It would fail of course as the rest of her songs are all mind numbingly shite

I wholeheartedly concur

He's been off the radar since Thursday. Probably writing up his line up announcement. Or he's been doing that thing the rest of the normal world has been doing and enjoying themselves over the long weekend.

In all seriousness though, surely we're due some news this week. Everyone back in the office and stuff

I'm going for April 27th, or sometime in that week. This is based solely on the assumption that the main resale will be on the 26th and that the organisers want the festival to be 'fully' (ignoring late cancellations and the smaller resales) sold out before announcing the bulk of the line-up.

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
