Green Day are playing shows.....

http://www.greenday.com/news/green-day-house-blues-cleveland-7169306

Just saying.

Green Day would be fecking awesome, apparently in the process of starting to write / record a new album so not in the touring cycle yet but would be an awesome act, some would say too big for Other stage though, they have headlined most Uk/ European festival, same as foo's, they just don't tour as often,

There's no way Green Day would the other stage ^^ they'd only headline a festival and they won't be headlining glastonbury this year

Also Matt, 10/10 for optimism as per usual, but id say Mark Knopfler is far from nailed on, hopefully he's there's though

Why not? Weren't Metallica due to headline the other last year, and they're miles bigger. You never know who wants to play what.

I could do with the line up and Ms T Swift being prominent. My Elderly Mum was admitted to hospital yesterday. She has dementia and she may not pull through. I could use some good news.

Sorry to hear your news and hope you have support around you.

Hope you get to see Taylor Swift also.

Didn't you say before that you got injured during last years Glastonbury? Anyway sounds like you deserve a really good Glastonbury this year

Well, supposedly

I just don't see Green Day accepting it, very much a centre of attention type of band, popularity wise at the festival the other stage would probably be the place for them, but I couldn't ever see it happened

Done more digging on Green Day, this show is the first time they have played as a band since Reading in 2013, they have been through a bit of shit in personal lives (basists wife been battling cancer)

they are rumoured to be starting recording a new album soon but this is constantly denyed by the band so I'm thinking it would be 2016 at the earliest...

would be amazing if they did though such a fun live band, would be the first headliner to bring a t-shirt cannon and toilet roll holder airblower on stage

After playing 'Headliner Thread Catch-Up' I am totally fucking not commenting tonight; on anything.

Purely on the basis of the fact that I cannot rationalise / reduce the image of Matt asking his dad about Dire Straits into philosophical / comedic / music-related / any terms whatsoever without fucking cracking up.

In other news, I saw a photo of Madonna on here earlier and I thought she looked 'fetch'...

Just paid mine off and train for the way down. Excitement cranked up a level.

Judging from your avatar I presume you are the same place as me. What train have you booked out if interest as I thought the trains for glastonbury week aren't released until Friday morning ?

We can rule out Kate Bush, she did the incredible dates in London and she won't perform again, she did them gigs after years of planning and debating it, after not touring for 30 years because she doesn't like it, no festival will pursuade her to play,

I will eat my own hat whilst dressed in full babooshka dress if she does....

    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
