Better to rely on texts or Whatsapp?

for meeting up? texts use the phoen network whcih will eb busy, but then whatsapp uses 3g which may be patchy

any suggestions?

Hmmm! I'd probably suggest that you arrange a meeting time/place before you all go your separate ways. Texting may be better than using what's app so you don't run your battery flat. Me and my friends used the Jack Daniels stands as meet up points at Primavera last year

I'd have thought whatsapp would only rely on the 3g/4g connection so if you have that then it should be instant like normal surely?

Whatsapp is the worst battery drainer ever. Just call them, and if they don't answer, text them. They'll at least see your missed call if they don't get the text right away and can call you back when they're not at a stage or get a chance to.

Whatever you do. Make sure you at the time sent in the body of the message. That way its clear if you are receiving a new an old message I'd say texts over what's app tho

Even if the 3g/4g connection is there the bandwith will be shit, due to the amount of people using it. Although if you are only sending a message through whats app it's not much data so should pass easily. It possible though that the other person might not have there data turned on.

To conserve battery I'd say use normal text and request a delivery MSG from it (free) or just make a quick phone call.

iMessage would be a good alternative to whatsapp if you both have iphones, can also change your settings so you can see when they've read it

Firechat looks like it would be an excellent idea...but it's going to be a big battery drain having the bluetooth and or wifi on all the time to make it useful.

Now if a lot of people have it installed then it will work, and most of those people will probably not know how to turn their wifi and bluetooth off anyway to save the battery. But personally I think I'll stick with the phone call and text options, everything else turned off including data so that I get longer out of the battery which will be struggling anyway due to the limited coverage also being more of a drain.
