So where should we camp this year?

We have always camped in Oxylers but last year I was finally put off after hearing some 16/17 year olds playing drinking games every night/morning at around 5am and then being sick!

So, I have decided that our group should consider moving but not sure where to? We like being quite central in Oxylers so don't want to be too far away from there I guess although we are open to suggestions.

Maybe we are all just getting a bit too old now and want something a bit quieter :)

  • 5 weeks later...

Big ground for us... A bit of a walk, but allows for actual sleep when we do decide to knock it on the head eventually. Definitely an age thing!

We ended up in Bushy Ground last year too. Very handy for Gate D, and we'd just walked all the way from Pink 54 so we couldn't be bothered going any further. Very peaceful at night, got a great nights sleep each night of the fest. Although if your point of entry isn't Gate D or A then I would probably give it a miss due to its location in the north west of the site.

We were thinking of turning right from Gate D this year and camping in Dairy instead - although who knows what will end up happening!

Based on last year Dairy was quite full by about midday, but definately space for a 3 man.

However with the Arcadia move, I reckon it will be much busier this year

This is my fear. We've camped in Dairy for the last 5 years and until this year really didn't want to be anywhere else - we like to start and end the day in the Park and the closeness of the Other Stage markets is another selling point. However, none of us are into the sort of stuff that Arcadia blasts out and we have no interest in being in a field full of 5am noz suckers, but we're also not interested in being closer to the Pyramid side (or being in the valley - especially with this weather) because nothing goes on over there past 12 and we don't really spend any time over there watching bands anyway. Such a quandary.

We have camped in Oxylers near to the hedge line of Silver Hayes for the past 10 years without incident or problem. We are getting on in age but think we just about still get away with it! The hardest part is the long walk from gate D a few times but then it makes all the difference for the days of the festival. (PS don't pinch our spot ;) )

Totally hear what your saying.

I guess your best bets would be South Park as there was alot of space here even by Thursday morning

Or possibly Paines Ground?

Not getting there until Thursday afternoon myself so am considering Bushy Ground or South Park. I can't quite get my hand around what route you have to take around the South side of the Dairy from Bushy though?

Same here!

We always used to camp in Dairy as it was close to everything but relatively peaceful at night. Plus it had a lock-up, toilets, water and food stalls nearby. I will miss the weird chinese / full English hybrid tent...

We're torn between South Park 1 and Bushy this year. Part of me is tempted by Bushy as it's less of a walk from Gate D! And the Beat Hotel have a really decent line-up this year so I may well end up around that end most evenings.

    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
