Hadn't heard of her until the poster drop. Love her work. 70's psychedelic soul/jazz is very much in my wheelhouse. Can't wait to see her at Glasto.

Leaving India, marrying someone she met in a museum to get a residence permit, getting signed by John Hammond, working with these jazz greats, getting re-discovered and sampled by hip hoppers and now a late career renaissance. Excellent compilation 'The Essential Asha Puthli' seems to include all her reinventions on one disc.

Venbee was the best thing at the festival this year, no doubt about that. Hello bamber, That young lady can certainly surf. She appears to be 'at one' with a wave. I've never surfed, or been interested in it, but watching her perform does make you want to jump on a surfboard, and give it a go. Far too old now though. I used to skateboard way back in my youth and even got to the finals of a regional skateboard competition. Mind you, none of us ever got up to what skateboarders can do nowadays. I did thoroughly enjoy the sport though. There was one skateboard park (Arrow) in Wolverhampton that i used to go to. It took me a fair bit of courage and more than a few attempts, but in the end I was able to drop down a ramp and then get to another ramp which then had a further vertical wall section. I can still feel that moment when I finally 'nailed' that vertical wall and got back down with all limbs and head intact. Hope you are happy and well.
